SCOTUS gets Slow-Jammed

Remember the scene of Obama “slow-jamming the news” on Jimmy Fallon? It was really nothing but glorified campaigning. But that is what they called it.

I was scanning over older articles about the coming ObamaCare decision. Well, freshening my memory, then it was thought and asserted by Obama that basically the SCOTUS was being activist and the Right was running the court. It was the Left’s preemptive strike on the Court. Warnings were all over. First, there was the formal critique of the High Court at Obama’s SOTUS. Then Obama recently issued a public warning to the Court. Sen. Patrick Leahy gave a long diatribe on the floor singling out Roberts. It so entered the records.

Then, remember all Obama’s trash talking caused a Fifth Circuit judge to ask DOJ for a clarification on the administration’s view toward judicial review. That prompted a term paper from Holder’s DOJ to satisfy the inquiry. Have we ever witnessed anything like this drive-by administration shaking down anyone who gets in their way? Thumbing their noses as they “move forward”. But sadly, for most of us, it looks like they’ve succeeded way too often. What gives? And all this coming from a Prez who supposedly instructed law at a university, and who supposedly was editor of Harvard Review.

Now that the ruling finally came out, it seems Roberts did some maneuvering and activism to reach their decision. But liberals are fine with the decision, even if it did not broaden their beloved commerce clause and instead based it on “tax”. Yet liberals are content and their ‘activism’ fearmongering at least for now dissipated. In reality, show them an activist court and they’re satisfied…even while arguing against an “activist Court”.

But they ranted and campaigned against an activist SCOTUS for months, driving Obama out to the Rose Garden to comment and Leahy to spew on the Senate Floor. We had fear and scare tactics from the left and verbal sparring with a silent Supreme Court. Now that the Court actively found a way to grant them a win, their arguments and fears seem moot — to them not for others. They got what they really wanted.

The worst part is the success may have validated their behavior. Should the Left now believe this is the way to get what they want: chastise and attack the High Court into submission, and browbeat the Court into agreement? Scotus may have set more than one terrible precedent here, not just on their creative decision but also on capitulating to the leftist attack dogs. You might say the “Occupiers” won against the Supremes. It looks like the Supremes got slow-jammed by the left.

Now the left is not only claiming victory but broadcasting how support has stengthened for ObamaCare since the decision. However, they don’t like to admit “most”, a majority, are still against it. But a closer look shows they are not so agreeable.

In the new poll, 53% of registered voters said they would be more likely to vote for their member of Congress if he or she ran on a platform of repealing the law, up from 46% before the ruling. — [up7%]

There have been early signs that the appeal is working. On Friday, Romney’s campaign said he had raised $4.6m in the 24 hours after the supreme court’s decision.

Most Americans still oppose the requirement that US residents own health insurance, the so-called “individual mandate” that the supreme court found was constitutional under the government’s right to impose taxes.

Despite the court labelling the mandate a tax – which Republicans have seized on – the survey found support for it unchanged. The mandate was backed by 39% of all Americans and opposed by 61%.

    Bull,

    Another excellent article.

I’m still angry like FOH because Roberts allowed himself to be intimidated by this monster in the White House. Hannity showed clips of the liberals talking trash about Roberts. Then the next day he was their hero as the activist on the bench. And, indeed he was an activist, rewriting and restructuring Obamacare so that it could stand. It makes me boil.

In a way I wish we could leave the country too. I’d like to go somewhere that will be safe. Nothing is safe anymore and our freedoms are so eroded.
At any given time we could be breaking a law that is now on the books but we don’t know it because there are so many.

Those people who don’t want to pay the Deviant’s big taxes sure showed themselves to be just what they are, big blow hards. Always trash talking about how they, the rich, should pay more. Now since that might be a possibility they are renouncing their citizenship and leaving the country. How hilarious is that? I wonder if Michael Moore will be among the ones to leave.

Pepp, They turned on a dime, didn’t they? The market for neck braces must be great now, they all should be suffering whiplash. I saw Kirsten Powers try to argue against the facts. They are leaving and they are the affluent. All the left can say is they are being unpatriotic. But they the left are patriotic? Then Powers said you cannot take money from low income families and children. Why is it they have no qualms about demanding it from higher incomes. ‘They deserve it.’ Oh, they can “afford” it. They turn on the fake tears, but you cannot expect working mothers blah blah. So its about picking your targets. And they do. Demand the wealthy just has to pay more–never mind the pols just want to spend more. “They are wealthy after all”. And the death tax is back in the mix. Funny all they can think to do is deomonize them and charge an exit tax. Yea, that’ll teach them! They have their other mantra, we don’t have a spending problem “we have a revenue crisis”. They had all these graphs and charts attacking Bush for spending. Now it must be those deadbeat wealthy.

Well Powers can say what she wants but the wealthy are leaving the country. Why should they be taxed any higher than they are? And what this does to businesses is plain horrible. No jobs will be made when small businesses have so much burden on them already. Not they can look for a bigger tax. This will never pass in Congress and that is the Deviant plan to make the Repubs look like they only care about the rich when they are trying to give businesses less taxes, less regulations so they can start to hire people and open up the job market. But there are too many morons in this country who can’t even read, write or do math so how on earth would they understand basic economics 101?

Yeah, right the deadbeat wealthy. What a laugh.
dingy harry reid will never bring that tax bill up in the senate because he does not want to put his demorats in any danger of having to show their hand and then lose their seats.

Right, if the wealthy had it as easy as they say why would they be leaving? That defeats their argument. (They could ask Charlie Rangel to brief them)

LOL! Charlie Rangel is such a crook. He would be good for a brief.

Ole Deviant One is going to be up a creek without a rich paddle if the wealthy all leave the country.

I heard on Rush Limbaugh today this caller tell Rush that he is an American citizen who did live in Canada. He told Rush that if Obama gets re-elected he and all the Americans/Canadians are going back to Canada. He said none of them could live here anymore under this administration. They are disgusted beyond belief. I found that pretty interesting. I wonder how many people will be leaving the country if the Chief Liar gets re-elected?
Only the poor of us will be left. And then where is he going to get all of the money to spend. Then the middle class he pretends to protect will be robbed even more.

Pepp: Oh, she kept saying it isn’t fair. But their spending spree is? And they already have plans on more spending. It is dems only answer to anything, spend mo’ money. I heard Ed Rendell lay out a plan Dems should use, to cut spending and, are you ready, spend oops… Invest more money in ____________ whatever. Sound economic advice, no? I almost fell off the chair.

I imagine you did almost fall out of your chair. This spending is going to send us over a cliff and now I’m hearing it may be only 2 to 3 years where we crash like Greece. What a bunch of dummies is my answer. Here they have this kind of socialism playing out badly in Europe with countries falling like dominoes and the old Deviant and the dems keep going down that path. But, of course that is the plan, to destroy our country.

Funny how they go to any length to call tax a “penalty” on ObamaCare. Why don’t they try that logic on wealth?

      • pepperhawk says:

Of course they are going to go to any length even after Roberts ruled on the program being a “tax” thus giving them an undeserved win in the SCOTUS.

So now they got their win, they want to deny it’s a tax. If that is the case, then the Deviant did not win if he’s going to claim it is something else than a tax.

Did anyone read “The Pelican Brief”? As she said, “The Supreme Court got it wrong”. Remember Dred Scott? Thank you SCOTUM, but you’re wrong. Just because they say it’s constitutional doesn’t make it right – at one time they said the same thing about slavery. I believe POTTY wants all of us to be slaves with him as the massa.

No, unfortunately I haven’t. But that is right, it is wrong. After scanning Leahy’s diatribe I think the best theory for it is there. One part fear and a two parts new deal, or should I say raw deal? Leahy threw in enough of that stuff(as a threat) he was afraid to knock down a mandate with others like SS still standing. So he just concluded gov could force us to do anything… if they just call it a tax. (just my theory, your mileage may vary)

Yesterday the left opened another attack, questioning Mitt Romney’s loyalty to the US because of “these ties” and foreign accounts in his blind trust. Then Axelrod called him the most secretive candidate since Nixon.

So a guy that put a lock on all his records is calling Romney “secretive”. A Kenyan is questioning Romney’s loyalty to the US. And Outsourcer in Chief is blaming Romney for “outsourcing”. (when he wasn’t even running the company)
