Obama’s siphon hose on Medicare

How Obamacare’s $716 Billion in Cuts Will Drive Doctors Out of Medicare

Roy Avik (Forbes.com contributor)

There are 600,000 physicians in America who care for the 48 million seniors on Medicare. Of the $716 billion that the Affordable Care Act cuts from the program over the next ten years, the largest chunk—$415 billion—comes from slashing Medicare’s reimbursement rates to doctors, hospitals, and nursing homes. This significant reduction in fees is driving many doctors to stop accepting new Medicare patients, making it harder for seniors to gain access to needed care. Here are a few of their stories.

The plan is to also drive the private medical insurance companies out of business. That’s part of the plan of Obamacare. Make private insurance unaffordable for the industry to do business. So that the only option is the government options. That part wasn’t included in Obamacare Part One, since they knew that the public wouldn’t stand for it and that the folks that were to vote for it wouldn’t because they would get too much political flak.
So the only game in town, the only place for doctors to have a business would be either cash, like it used to be beforrre WWII, or else Medicare. And the government expected to tie up almost all the customers in the latter. Play with us or don’t play. And at the price we set.
The problem with price controls is that it always creates shortages. The further from the actual market price the fixed price, the greater the shortage.

    Another great post bull!

I would really like to see Mitt/Ryan hammering on one of the major points of Obamacide that seems to be sitting on the sidelines. They need to talk much more about the effect Obamacide has on Medicare patients in nursing homes. That issue is not only effecting senior citizens, but the younger generations of those who have a loved one in nursing homes. If it weren’t for nursing homes, the majority of people that depend on Medicare to pay their nursing home bills would have NO WHERE to go. This would also reach out to more female voters due to Alzheimer’s. This disease effects a much greater number of females than males and those inflicted with Alzheimer’s is on the rise. I believe this issue reaches a very broad audience immediately. But I don’t claim to be a good campaign manager. Just a smuck caught up in the system…

Dave, Good comments. I would too. And you know that issue touches people right were they live. The more I think of it the more I think this was a shocker to Obama. This was the surprise, an issue Zero didn’t plan on running on. They thought they could just snipe their way through without taking a hit. And with the Obamacare they thought they could dodge the damage because of the size of the problem they created, which no one is supposed to be fully aware of yet. Now he will probably just say I won the SCOTUS case. The guy created such a tangled web, now he wants to use the huge web to defend himself. Right, Dave, the female side should wake up to this reality. Probably why Zero tries to project their phony war on women.

        Bull,
I think women, older women anyway, are very much attuned to what Obamacide does to the elderly. Like I said on another comment, the Hawk and I are both on Medicare. I’ve got two health problems that need maintenance care. So if I get cut off from being able to see a doctor, I won’t be able to get the meds I need to take care of these two health problems, both of which I didn’t ask for.

Same for the Hawk. We are very concerned what will happen.

It’s very scary. I need a colonoscopy because the one I had done about 12 yrs. ago I had polyps. But so far my doctor has declined me getting one. My grandma died of colon cancer so it’s important for me to have the colonoscopy. I guess my doc doesn’t want to do it because Medicare pays so little for one.

    Bull,
Very timely article and important. This is going to be a very hot topic for all people under Medicare and that includes me and the Hawk. So far our doctors, (2 of them) are taking Medicare patients, but a 3rd one in the practice has stopped taking Medicare patients. We’ve asked our doc quite a few times how he’s going to manage to keep taking us. He told us he would be cutting back on testing, less cat scans, MRIs, etc. to see if that will help keep the costs down since they get very little from Medicare for our visits.

We both get a bit frightened over not being able to get health care anywhere since the Hawk is now having an ongoing problem.

    This statement by Cutter:

“The Obama campaign offers several lame defenses of these cuts. “The President’s plan doesn’t cut [benefits] by one dime,” insists deputy campaign manager Stephanie Cutter. “He ends taxpayer subsidies to insurance companies, and weeds out waste, fraud, and abuse, which saves the Medicare system $716 billion.”

Now who would believe this lying, demon rat? She said Romney was a felon.
