President Not

“I am President Not… from the enchanted land of Nope.”

One thing all the issues have in common is the way Obama argues, or demonizes, them. He is not content with telling us what he is going to do, he always has to frame it by saying what he “will not do”. I’ve been sick of this as long as he’s been in office. Every issue that comes up, he rolls out the “not” machine.

While Obama insisted he was “very open to compromise” in future talks, he emphasized he would not negotiate with Congress over the debt limit.

“I will not have another debate with this Congress over the debt ceiling,” Obama said. [Huff Po]

In November he said, “But what I will not do is to have a process that is vague, that says we’re going to sort of, kind of, raise revenue through dynamic scoring or closing loopholes that have not been identified.”

Obama’s acceptance speech in 08:

“But what I will not do is suggest that the senator takes his positions for political purposes, because one of the things that we have to change in our politics is the idea that people cannot disagree without challenging each other’s character and each other’s patriotism. “

In April, 2008: “… but what I will not do is to continue to let the Iraqi government off the hook.” And keep the straw men firmly on the hook.

You can count on him trotting out the same twisted rhetoric every time he speaks. Why doesn’t he come out and just tell us his concrete plans or what he will do, instead of continually telling us what he won’t do?

So I was thinking about trying this out, and because it happens to be New Years, so I am going to make an exhaustive list of things “I will not do” in the next year. Let’s see how far that gets me.I can just sit here thinking up endless things that “I will not do”. It should b a fun exercise because I can stick anything in the list I want, and be as creative about it as possible. It is just a rhetorical tool.

Aren’t the people sick of hearing what Obama “will not do”? His inauguration is coming up and the State of the Union. How many times can he tell us what he won’t do? How come he never says he will not spend more money or all the other things people want to hear. How come he does not say “I will not demagogue the issues”? Or say “I will not mock my opponents”?

But the reality is if someone took that device away he’d have nothing left. He spends way more time saying what he will not do than what he is going to do.

The 2012 State of the Union:’
“And I will not stand by when our competitors don’t play by the rules.”
“And I will not go back to the days when Wall Street was allowed to play by its own set of rules.”

He uses this almost as much as his other favorite phrase: “Let me be clear.”

Sort of reminds me of Abbott and Costello, “who’s on first?”

  1. Excellent observation, BR.
He usually speaks in the negative, and with a full complement of Straw Men.
Really is ridiculous the various verbal props that he uses, constantly, in an effort to sound intelligent.

He’s not smart: he’s what reporters THINK smart should SOUND like. It’s similar to the AR-15 LOOKING like what they’ve been told an “Assault Rifle” would look like…by other folks who have ALSO never seen one.

Doesn’t matter, though: the Media will have a voluntary aneurysm before they’ll describe ANYTHING Obama says as something less than GENIUS.
Barack could literally perform a variety of scatological acts, DURING a press conference, and the worst thing that’d be said about him is that Obama “really seemed to know his crap out there today…”.

That’s why I don’t listen to him speak anymore; I just read the transcripts. They’re painful enough without subjecting my ears to the sound of the “…ooohs” & “…aaaahs” from the swooning Media…

JTR, you’re right on target. I don’t think the media would know how to report a story without Barry’s help. That is like expecting Nixon to cover Watergate. LOL Yea its too painful to listen to his tortured speeches. Plus its another opportunity for lamestream to offer him assistance, whether its a friendly question or helpful edit.

No wonder he can be so casual about his agenda, when half the world doesn’t care whatever he says, and the other half don’t know. You know, through their love affair with him, I think there are times when they miss Bush just to have someone to attack.

You’re right. He says “Let me be clear”. It’s ironic truly. He’s as bad as Clinton with his lack of clarity and double-talk. Did you hear about the attack on the Constitution today? I just finished writing an article on that topic. It’s tragic what is happening in our country. Stand tall. Speak loud. Keep up the articles!

  3. If a reporter asked Obama “How are you today, Mr. President?”…obviously his answer would be “Not bad.”

To which the reporter SHOULD follow up with: “But Mr. President, I didn’t ask how you AREN’T. I asked how you ARE.”

But that follow-up would never happen, because today’s leftist news media doesn’t know what a challenging follow-up question is anymore.

They can elect him president but they cannot make him presidential.

Great post Bull! Barry can’t keep a promise, even when he makes one. Example: He came out prior to the election saying he supports gay marriage. Well; he got the homo’s votes, but now says he will not make it an issue to pass legislation to give them equal rights. Now that suits me fine, because I don’t support gay marriage but it is a good example of another lie falling off Barry’s tongue just to get votes.

He really can’t say what he will do, because he doesn’t want to wake up the zombies that support him and believe he cares about our nation. It must keep them dumb to keep them in line, so all he can really do is demonize the republican party stating they won’t let him destroy our country as quickly as he had scheduled. And as far a double talk…Barry is the first president I’ve ever seen that can quadruple talk! He ran on the exact same platform in 2012 as he did 2008. Makes promises you don’t intend on keeping and don’t bring up anything about how badly he sucks as a politician. I’ve never in my life seen someone more rewarded for their failures than the sumbitch…

Pres. Nope the Dope from Hope. I see his butt-buddy retains the speakership. Going to be a sled ride through shit until 2014.

  7. […] ‘ayatollah of no’ will be on his campaign pulpit trail again spreading his message of revenge. This time to gun owners […]
