During his post-Benghazi UN tour, Obama channeled a quote from Gandhi that “intolerance is itself a form of violence.” He also said “the future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam. ”
Recently at the prayer breakfast, he worked up the nerve to call IS an ideology and a “brutal, vicious death cult”. Wow, so strangely similar to David Cameron’s praised words in his visit. Well, it’s the thought that counts. Cameron said: “We face a poisonous and fanatical ideology…” calling it a “radical, death cult of a narrative.” Of course Obama’s version did not say “radical” — which could refer to Islam — but “vicious” instead. When Cameron said that here, all Obama could muster was to describe the enemy as “violent extremism” and “violent terrorism” — even “nihilism.”
Obama’s insinuation on intolerance could imply intolerance of Islam. That’s the whole point behind their political correctness of using the term Islamic terrorism. We aren’t tolerant enough, we always hear that. We are Islomophobic. Either you are like Obama and can’t say the words, or you are simply Islamophobic.
Then there’s the world according to Muslims. They point to the masses and say they are moderates. So it seems in that narrative we have 2 very different, opposite faces of Islam.
There is one face, the moderates, of a religion of peace. Then there is this other ugly, violent side. Right? It looks like this in short hand:
2 faces of Islam: ” peaceful” side – violent, extremist, radical, Jihadi, terrorism side.
That’s the narrative we have to work with. We’re reminded the overwhelming majority of Muslims are peaceful and in this moderate side. If we say anything about the evil violent side, they remind us about the beautiful, peaceful side. Or the dark ages and Crusades. Of course the problem comes in when they spend more time condemning us for our pointing out the evil. That’s the way it goes.
What is never discussed is both their faces can be intolerant of us.
The 2 faces of Islam: “peace” – Islamic radical terrorism / jihad.
The solution to this huge disparity is more tolerance from us.
Again, 2 faces of Islam: peace – Islamic radical terrorism on steroids
But we have an intolerance problem? We lack tolerance? We are bigots and haters.
That infers that the main problem is our intolerance.
Obama cautioned against reacting too quickly to a crisis. His doctrine is don’t do stupid stuff. Janet Napolitano told us we only had a perception problem on the border crisis. Susan Rice also declared perception the problem and that we’re alarmists driven by media’s instant news cycle. Holder called us a nation of cowards and racists. The administration has called right-wingers extremists and terrorists. Gruber called the public dumb, too stupid to understand. They justified their mountain of lies to us.
Now Obama tells us to get off our “high horses” and reminds us of the Crusades. After Benghazi, Hillary Clinton said “what difference at this point does it make?” I’d have to say: what difference at this point does it make what they say? We’ve been called all sorts of things and blamed for many things, but the one thing they just can’t say is “Islamic terrorism”. It’s the forbidden taboo. That just might offend someone.
