Identity Politics

What lesson did we learn from the left last week? That it is good to imitate a woman but bad to imitate being black. It’s the latest cultural snafu and hypocrisy of the left.

You get a courage award for changing your identity to a female but you get attacked for appropriating black culture. You may appropriate the female gender all you want. Do not borrow any black culture though. And rule makers, or the political class, get to decide what “culture” entails. Do not cross the lines.

Abc reports: “Spokane NAACP Chapter President ‘Grew Up White,’ Says Her Brother
Rachael Dolezal claims she is black and identifies as such, despite family’s denials.

She appears to have broken the rules setting off national outrage. But Bruce Jenner gets the national courage award for identifying as a woman. I’m sure they’ll tell him there is great pride in that, not so for identifying as black. She’s probably a leftist too. Elizabeth Warren self-identified as Native American as a college professor, due to pronounced cheekbones, and the left didn’t get disturbed by it.

There was outrage a while back at a teenage girl using a weave hairstyle as “appropriating black culture.” An egregious offense. However, if people marry the other cultural identity they are celebrated, but presumably they still must keep their cultural identities separate. That must be somewhere in the wedding vows and prenuptial details.

There might be enough confusion about this so colleges probably need courses if they don’t already have them, so young people learn there are limitations which must not be crossed or challenged. All this is important because one’s political status is determined by identity. You must stay within the boundaries of that or there will be big trouble for you.

So if you are any one of certain subidentities you must be a Democrat. For instance, if you are a union member you vote Democrat; if you are Hispanic you vote Democrat; if you are black you vote Democrat; if you are female you should vote Democrat or be a traitor to your sexual organs; if you are a cross-dresser or LGBTQ you must vote Democrat. Every group is an identity and you are known only by that identity. So I think they need to have course curriculum teaching it to eliminate confusion.

If you cross any identity taboos or boundaries there will be swift, severe penalties. And you may never return to your ‘normal’ identity status after misidentifying or appropriating culture. Naiveté or ignorance is no excuse.

You may change your identity to female, but you may not change your cultural identity. You are courageous for the first and condemned for the second. You may use certain banned words if you are of the proper identity. If not, you will be marked for life as a racist bigot. No appeals and nothing you do or say can rehabilitate your identity image. Once branded a racist, you may never change that identity. See why they need a course?

It’s all about identity. Let’s see how long it takes the left to brand her family racists for pointing it out.

Reference: Wikipedia says:

Cultural appropriation is the adoption of elements of one culture by members of a different cultural group, especially if the adoption is of an oppressed people’s cultural elements by members of the dominant culture.

America is a melting pot society, but don’t cross cultural and political boundaries of the Left. Do not appropriate any subculture wrongly, even unconsciously. The right of justice in such matters is reserved for the left. It only follows that political party and voting follow the same rules.

PS: pride in any identity is encouraged unless you are white European or Caucasian — which is a terrible identity.

Bull, interesting article and brings into focus the bigotry of blacks actually. We hear blacks say, “we don’t need white people telling us how or what to do and we don’t need their help.”

That changes after they’ve looted and burned down a city like Baltimore, then it’s whitey’s fault for “whites not caring”.

    Hypocrisy be thy name.

No matter what a white does it’s a no win situation. Only whites are in the “identity” politics of being bad and a reason to go after them. Whites are no good.

The hypocrisy of it all is the bigotry that comes from the blacks not the whites. Turned on its’ head as everything else has in this country.

Pepp, lol how it is our fault, no one can think any other way — well, everything is all our fault and everything blacks do is justified. (by us of course) And there is no sensitivity training toward whites, you should offend them anyway possible.

Right, Ferguson and Baltimore framed it pretty good. So everyone just needs to understand the rules. Everything must be reversed or backwards. Then Obama tells us Islam was always a part of our founding And instead of blaming problems on cities, blame it on the suburbs. It’s their fault for moving out of the cities. Yes, up is down and down is up, right is wrong…..but white is never black that’s the exception. After the first affirmative action prez it is all crystallizing.

Bull, along with whites being to blame for all bad things that happen, now there are no laws blacks need to follow. If they commit a crime, theft, looting, burning down stores and cars, murder, who is to blame for this. Oh, not them. It’s whitey because who else could be at fault for all of this bad behavior. Blacks don’t have to be accountable or responsibility for anything they do.

It’s like the childish saying, “he made me do it”.

These are now the rules by which we all “need” to understand. No white cop is innocent, always guilty when a black dies. Meanwhile black on black crime, gee there’s no one responsible for that. That’s just being black and they are above the law at all times.

Whew, what a world we live in. I never had a racist bone in my body all my life, but now I’m having to deal with these feelings of bigotry since the rules have changed.

Yep Pepp, no racism here just dealing with reality. We have a trend and its getting worse even with us talking about it. Structural racism is the new label and needs no proof.

It is very childish, exactly. Like we’re all sorry but we cannot hold the black community to any higher standard than this. What condescending attitudes, eh? Oh, sorry they cannot be responsible for it. It seems to be getting worse and some didn’t think that was possible.

Having police stand down for looters took the cake. It’s a whole new level. Being called a racist and a bigot constantly doesn’t help.

Well at least I’m glad I’m not a racist. LOL! Actually I hold some of the same thoughts about Muslims and Latinos. They can do no wrong either. And we have to be sensitive to them as well as the blacks.

My sensitivity virtue is about worn out. Can’t seem to find it lately.

You’re right, it is so condescending to put blacks in a “group” who are so stupid they can’t obey the law and nothing can be expected of them. Makes them sound like a bunch of barbarians we just shipped over from Africa.

Let’s all do the Zulu dance. Join in the fun. It’s looters night, so we can all go out and join them.

Pepp, that sensitivity thing is about worn out. LOL They keep screaming sensitivity around me while I’m being offended from every direction. Just as long as I don’t lose my sensitivity. Which starts to seem more like the Stockholm Syndrome to me.

It sure is like Stockholm Syndrome. My sensitivity is saved for children, not these dolts.

Sorry, I didn’t get into the whole bathroom thing either. But that is going to require a manual by itself.

    Cliff note version:
If you self-identify with the other sex you can use their bathroom. But do not appropriate black culture if it could hypothetically offend one person. In bathrooms, others must suffer the offense and there is nothing they can do about it. Your self-identity trumps their right to privacy or not be offended. Just don’t go appropriating culture while doing it. What if you are just appropriating (borrowing) trany-culture? Who decides that?

I’d like to know just who thinks they have the right to decide any of this? I didn’t ask for these outrageous rules. If someone is offended then it’s their responsibility to deal with it. Like transgenders have no business being in the other sex’s bathrooms and if that offends them tough shit.

Right, tough bananas. We’re in big doodoo the day the Supremes have to decide on bathroom procedures. Some of us are supposed to be inconvenienced till the cows come home.

OMG! Bringing SCOTUS into this would be utterly ridiculous. I wouldn’t put it past the LGBT crowd though. Force by throat stuffing seems to be their MO.
