Pope urges revolution to save Earth, fix ‘perverse’ economy
VATICAN CITY (AP) — In a sweeping environmental manifesto aimed at spurring concrete action, Pope Francis called Thursday for a bold cultural revolution to correct what he described as a “structurally perverse” economic system where the rich exploit the poor, turning Earth into an “immense pile of filth.”
Francis framed climate change as an urgent moral issue in his eagerly anticipated encyclical, blaming global warming on an unfair, fossil fuel-based industrial model that harms the poor most.
Citing Scripture, his predecessors and bishops from around the world, the pope urged people of every faith and even no faith to undergo an awakening to save God’s creation for future generations.

I’ve already sufficiently expounded on the subject, but the groans seem to be getting louder from the Vatican.
About 30 years ago while visiting my mom-in-law in Ormond Beach I read in her World Book Encyclopedia collection for ’57 she bought from a door to door salesman for her kids that in 5 billion years the surface of earth as the Sun burned out would reach 700 degrees F. Think Al Gore will have enough money by then?
There is a black lady from NY (I think she has identified as black and NY) who wrote on the subject recently…

Good old World Book or Britannica, those were the choices. Oh, those nightmares…thanks for that link.

Sec. Kerry should have taken CCR on his trip instead of Baby James. Singing “who’ll stop the radiation?” 🙂

WTH is wrong with this Pope. I’m disliking him more than ever. A supposedly well educated man is for climate change? Has he lost his belief in God to believe this is man made? Only God has the power over our weather. Besides climate change has been going on since the earth was created. I’m questioning his intelligence.
So now hes thrown his hat in with O, Al Gore and all the other crackpots about “climate change”. Geesh, why doesn’t he shut up and practice his Faith?

Pepp, you nailed it. He seems eager to jump into these issues. I agree. And it may be a good example of telling itchy ears what they want to hear. Plus he must realize that once you start it never stops.

Maybe Pope counseled with Jeremiah Wright. His Peace Doves been having a problem with crows and seagulls coming home to roost of late. Sure he didn’t counsel with Jeremiah was a Bullfrog. 🙂

I’m for saving the planet but anymore it is like it has been blown all out of proportion. I’m getting sick of hearing about it, mostly from the left, 😦 The pope getting in on the shindig makes me wonder where his priorities are at.

So right, LA,. It is about priorities, isn’t it? It’s a daily thing I’m getting sick of it too. The proportions are whacked out. It used to be we had a common cause with things, but they destroyed and politicized everything. I look at the conservation movement and it is night and day to these eco-trolls. Why he wants to lead that parade is beyond me.

Me too. He should lead more on compassion with humans than get involved with leftist things.

I read a couple of stories about saving the planet this week. One concerning Bill Gates believing some catastrophic disease is coming to wipe out many folks on the planet. Well governments and disease done that, been there. We still here. I don’t know what he wants, but I associate him with the population control folks.
It’s relative, sometimes local, I guess some parts of the world worse off than others, India, Africa, China, etc.
The other story is how over the years Boston harbor has been cleaned up from the terrible pollution. Don’t remember the specific pollutants, mostly industrial I guess.
Many years ago, we kids swam at a community center and pier in a town on the Gulf of Mexico. The towns sewer system emptied in to storm drains which drained openly where we swam ( I didn’t know that then). One day I dove from the pier and nearly got a turd in my mouth.
That was my last swim there. Over the next few years we were inoculated with Salk’s vaccine. Thank goodness.
That’s all been cleaned up as well, with central sewage system. I still would not swim there though with MRSA and such.
But even back then a friends dad, electrical engineer, for Southern Company, so not a stupid man, bathed in the Gulf with soap, back brush, right where a storm drain was, summer and on cold winter days. He lived to a ripe old age…don’t know just how ripe he was upon passing. Still stupid is as stupid does. 🙂 What I’m saying as for U.S. it better now.

So good reminders. Their job now is to paint it as bad and ugly as they can. But then it sort of matches their 3rd world vision for America.
