Interesting election dichotomy

With another win safely tucked under Trump’s belt, the message is becoming clearer. Trump seems poised to take the nomination, surprising some and pissing off others.

However, there is one interesting thing I find. The estabos are mad of course, but they seem powerless against the up and comer. Well now, when you parse it down it reveals something else. With Cruz and Trump relying on conservatives — frustrated ones that is — they tend to split up that vote. The various ways don’t mean much except that a split should work to the favor of the establishment, RNC types. But then when you see Rubio barely tying Cruz now for the second time, it reveals how weak the establishment is.

If I read it my way, that implies establishment support is less than a third. That would be bad news for establishment. Then when you parse down how much of that candidate vote really is by and for the establishment, it looks worse and worse. Not all Rubio’s vote is establishment support. No, I don’t know the particular numbers and don’t have to to make some generalizations on how weak that establishment support really is. So it is not just a year of the outsider but also the year of the shrinking establishment.

Then there is the strange desire that estabos want either Cruz or preferably Trump out of the race. But that would only further consolidate conservatives, except for the ones who swear they won’t vote for Trump. So their strategy would tend to work against them.

There is the other problem: the ‘sworn-off’ vote. When it comes to the general, they will have to support the nominee or nothing. How many times have we conservatives been told we have to hold our noses? So that part of the vote seems to be irrelevant in the end.

Then there is the problem, so they say, of the high negatives of Trump. Really? Have you seen Hillary’s negatives? But how meaningful are those high negatives in the general election between two candidates? Now with an outsider, insurgent, anti-establishment election, I would expect some high negatives to surface. …Just my observations.

Well, well, I have to say I’m getting pretty sick of all the pundit class and media trying to add this number of votes and that number of votes to try to come up with how to beat Trump. For bloody sake, it’s about time to just accept he’s going to be the nominee and just accept it. Whether they like it or not that’s just how it’s turning out this time.

People are onto the machinations of the GOPe, are mad as hell and don’t want an establishment candidate. Whether that’s good or not is to be seen.

I think Trump’s negatives are bullshit. Who are they polling? Lefties who are home and on the tit?

Once this is down to a two man race the numbers will change. The professional pundits have been 100% wrong on everything.

Nox it’s hard to believe Trump has that many negatives when you see the crowds he attracts of thousands of people at every one of his rallies. I think it’s BS too and another way the media is trying to tell people he’s not a viable candidate.

And yes the pundits have had it all wrong all the way. And they’ve done everything they can trying to get people to vote their way and the people are having nothing to do with it.

That’s interesting. I think there is much to that. They never seem to talk about Hillary’s negatives, and there are good reasons for those. We’ve invented a new pundit class.

Instead of mentioning all of Hillary’s negatives, the media ignores it all. Nothing new there. I even saw that the Commies had a town hall last night where she was given a “do over” over her response to whether she tells the truth or not and she answered “I try”. This time she said No she never lies. They help her out on every last thing.

Bull, get this one I’m just now reading. A quote ““Talk radio host Glenn Beck, who was in Nevada campaigning on behalf of Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX). at the caucus, denounced Donald Trump’s supporters as “brown shirts” after the GOP frontrunner upstaged Beck by making an impromptu appearance at the same caucus venue he was speaking at.” (Breitbart, Feb. 23, 2016)

It’s not nice to take the spotlight from Beck or Cruz. Must be a law LOL. So now it’s the supporters they’re attacking. Cruz, like Obama, has to have others do his dirty work attacking. At least Trump does it all by himself. Wow,projection going on there.

It sure looks that way that Cruz has his surrogates do the dirty work for him. There is now way he doesn’t know about this. I don’t see him firing Beck.

Beck took to Facebook where he likely hoped to elicit sympathy by protesting the behavior of Trump supporters, rating them as “some of the nastiest people I have ever been with”. No matter how over-zealous Trump’s supporters may have come on in Nevada, they do not deserve to be called “brown shirts”, the name for Hitler’s notorious paramilitary group.

Since the ‘dissenters’ are no longer on his side, he’s free to mow them down with guns-a-blazing. Leave it to Beck to be as nasty as that while calling others nasty. Next he’ll be preaching Rodney King, “can’t we all get along?”

Beck lost his marbles some time ago. This kind of talk is not going to help his cause. Nothing like turning the ppl away from you and your candidate by calling those who support Trump “brown shirts”. Where does he get off with this stuff? Who does he think he is? He displays so much nastiness it’s incredible.

Right, I think the last thing I’ll do is get lectured by Beck on ethics — or by the guy he is supporting. Isn’t he always the one pointing out how nasty others are?

So he broad brushes the whole lot of Trump supporters as Nazis. Yeah, it says more about him and his state of sanity, I remember a similar campaign he did against Alan Keyes. Anyone who agrees with Keyes is a … fill in the blank. Gee, I should have checked with Beck before having a political opinion. lol

Beck shows himself to be a hypocrite by saying others are like Nazis when he is acting like one himself. I too am tired of these kinds of people telling us what we are or who we are. He’s got some nerve.

Maybe I’ll have to write something on the Third Reich and Nazis, Oh, he’s the history expert, I forgot. Then he should know the problem was people didn’t speak up and protest when they should have. But the people I hear and see getting really nasty are the Cruz Crew. What is Beck working on a caliphate?

You know what they say, when the political speech turns to the Nazi comparison, the conversation is about over. I guess the desperation has set in w/ Camp Cruz. Beck’s the one pushing fascism.

Exactly Bull, when the name calling comes out they’ve lost. Beck demonstrated his ability to act just like a liberal. I think Cruz is about done in now. You’re right the desperation has sunk in especially when Rubio won 2nd place. That must have inflamed Cruz.

Well, I guess it shouldn’t surprise me. Ted Cruz can run any which way he wants to run his campaign. That’s up to him. But when he brought in and runs on the mantle of Christianity as the central theme, then these tactics bother me and call his ethics into question. I’ve heard people say he was just “using” Christianity or hiding his campaign behind it. Now I am taking some of that criticism to heart. That is the insulting part.

Cruz’s ethics are a real problem now because of what he’s done. And I wonder too about the Evangelicals and how they are going to take this kind of attack on other people. Although I have to say I saw plenty of Cruz supporters on Twitter being pretty doggone nasty last night.

I had a Cruz supporter attack me last night when I made the comment on what Cruz had done to Ben Carson. He called Ben Carson “ignorant”. Geez that’s pretty bad stuff since Carson is about the nicest and most Christian man on the ballot.

Cruz is using his “mantle of Christianity for his campaign and he’s coming up short. And it is insulting to everyone who calls themselves a Christian.

I do think from now on Rubio is going to take 2nd place except for Texas where he has his most supporters.

I’ve seen some stuff too from Cruz supporters toward Carson. Talk about re-victimizing the victim. Oh, right he wants Carson’s voters. Funny way to get them. Carson has not said a negative word about him. When we thought it already was nasty, its about to get worse. Cruz won’t take defeat well, but not like he can filibuster it.

Perhaps you should write about the 3rd Reich and the Nazis just to give ppl what real Nazis were like. Nobody anymore, at least the younger ones don’t know anything about that period of history. And what about Beck? He should know this history better so he doesn’t go around yelling Nazis at Trump supporters. How insulting can he get? He is really showing off the worst of himself. Cruz needs to get rid of Beck now but I doubt he will since he’s doing such a great job as an attack dog.

An attack dog, that’s exactly what I thought too. Oh Mr Expert on all things. Puke. Surprised Beck doesn’t have his PhD.He and Bill O’Reilly could make a pair.

Cruz has managed to spend more of his time criticizing Repubs than he has Hillary. Then Cruz is going to blame all the damage on the right on Trump. If we could just get in line and support him, I guess we could also be a couple of the goody goody’s too. I never was great at that role. Why then I could offend anyone at will and say they deserved it or caused it. I heard ppl too talk about Carson, they said get over it he lost. I hope they are so generous when Cruzy loses.

That’s pretty nasty stuff to say about Carson when Cruz isn’t getting over his loss in Nevada.

No I’m not good at playing that role either nor do I want to.

I would suggest that the Republican “Powers That Be” prepare themselves to gracefully accept what will after “Super Tuesday” be an obvious and undeniable truth—Trump will be the Republican nominee for president.

They should acknowledge that they have a tiger by the tail (or in Trump’s case, a lion), and make the best of the situation. There is nothing to be gained by resisting a gale-force headwind, and much to recommend adjusting sails to accommodate a radical shift in the breeze; a rather brisk breeze.

If you’ll forgive me one last shift in metaphors: There’s a new sheriff in town, and most of the townsfolk aim to see him clean things up around here—regardless of what the entrenched “town council” might think.
