Time for a pet peeve. I admit it might be a small one. Here it is: I have a problem with politicians coming along to legitimize our fears, concerns, frustrations or anger.
It goes something like this. People are outraged about something like government abuse, keeping phone records, IRS targeting citizens, border enforcement or stupid actions. Then come politicians who tell us, “listen, you have a right to be angry or upset.”
But we see time and time again that they not only don’t do anything to stop the problems but sometimes are directly causing the problems. Then they tell us that we have a right to be angry. Do we need them to legitimize our anger, or grant us the right to be angry?
Obama coined a term today, speaking to people in Flint Michigan about the water crisis, calling it a “Pipeline of Neglect.” Wow, there is an understatement but a useful phrase. I think I’ll steal that one. Though it goes much further than neglect.
Then we’re told time and again that we have to get a handle on our anger. Yet the very people contributing to our anger tell us you have a right to be angry about it.
Another offensive statement to me usually comes up in response to that above one. Pols will not admit their culpability, or their part in the cause. They say, “we can do better.” What does that mean, better than failure? It’s a relative term. That’s a way of appearing to admit some guilt without assuming any responsibility. We get a whole lot of “we can do better” these days. Or maybe the language is my pet peeve? I’m not sure.

Well stated. The major problem with politicians are that they attempt to fix what isn’t broken, ignore what is broken, cause a mess, then campaign to fix it.
“Pipeline of neglect” is a wonderful phrase. That pipe needs to be used as a club on the left. They own it.

I liked that phrase too, regardless the source. Mr Ignorance himself. Great interpretation, it’s a nice working theory. .

Thanks, I couldn’t help myself thinking about all those out there that spent months bashing Trump. The comments are first rate and make it even funnier.
As you know we took a lot of casualties at N&F. More than half the crew left because I insisted on a modicum of fairness instead of advocacy.

I made a comment on your crow article.
I think it’s good to have fairness and a sense of respect and dignity for all’s points of view without the rancor.
I know when I saw what was going on I didn’t want to come because it seemed hostile from certain people and I have enough problems without adding any to my life.
You did the right thing Nox. And if some decided to leave because of your policy so be it. I don’t like nastiness on my blog either.

Isn’t lovely that they can allow us to be “upset” and yet never fix anything we ask of them. Therefore we then get angry and oh we’re allowed to be angry too but please get a grip on yourselves. Hey, but throughout it all we’re not going to be doing anything about it so go right back to sleep and just forget about it.
Funny, the day came when nobody wanted to go back to sleep.

Yes, Pepp, I’m so glad they awarded us permission. I don’t know what I’d do if it wasn’t allowed? I do wonder how they sleep though.

LOL! Now they think they can tell us how to feel and when to feel. I guess they forgot we have God given rights to want life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. And that is what is causing so many to be angry. They no longer have jobs to pursue some happiness, and so many of our liberties are gone.
How do they sleep? Just fine. They are mostly sociopaths who don’t give a damn about anyone. And they sleep a lot better than we do with their pockets full of money, their power, their lives filled with opportunities, while we have nothing.
