On To The Real Fruit

My two small apple trees are spitting out apples already. That’s a good thing and good year from my view. No sprays or cides or anything, just nature doing what it does.

Now I just hope the deer don’t get them all this year. But that is usually the way it works: groundhogs try to get any low-lying vegetation and the deer get the upper tier.

You feel like the sap in the middle getting squeezed. There must be a metaphor there?

I’m only worried about the apples getting completely ripe before they start disappearing.
But the deer are hustlers.

Deer are weed eaters with long legs.

I think I got to eat two figs this year on two peanut butter crackers. I be, you know, a Florida cracker.
Googled who was the culprit who got most of them (like most years).
“It’s frustrating to have a tree of half-eaten figs! Answer: The most likely culprits are squirrels, mice or birds. It may even be that birds have caused some damage and then part of the fruit has rotted away. Slugs and snails are efficient climbers too.”
Slugs! My newest neighbors are husband and wife union school teachers! 🙂

UPDATE: within 2 days of writing that they are cleaned out. Only a few at the very top left. That’s the way it is. 😦
