Dreams vs. Reality

I do not want to go all RFK (Robert Kennedy) here but I can if I have to. Bobby Kennedy is attributed with a quote that he admitted was taken from George Bernard Shaw, which is often quoted crediting him.

“Some people see things as they are and say why? I dream things that never were and say why not?” — RFK

But to take issue that: I see things as they are and wish they weren’t so.

That about sums up the last few weeks we have witnessed like a train wreck happening before our eyes. But yet still we know it was entirely predictable.

I wish it were different and we were achieving even greater things we previously only dreamed possible, but I can’t say that. Though it could have been expected.

I’m thinking after 6 months into the year that 2020 could go down as the year of double standards and hypocrisy.

It came in with a whirlwind on an impeachment agenda wrapped up in over-hyperbole about a Ukrainian phone call. It intentionally knocked everything else off the nation’s agenda because it was that important. Except it really wasn’t. It was a fabricated charge of only the latest route to impeach Trump.

It came after they said they weren’t out to impeach the president. Politicians offered that they really did not want to impeach Trump but were orced into it by the president himself. Blame the victim for what you want to do to him. In fact, they claimed not to have run on impeaching Trump, except it was exactly all they were here for now.

Since they were here, they had to throw on a failed Russian conspiracy investigation that did not find collusion, acting as if it had. That was the Left disbelieving the way it is while dreaming up the way they wished it to be. Then acting as if their dream was reality.

Still it was not enough for the Senate, where they tried to dictate the rules. Again, seeing only what they wish were so while viciously attacking anyone who did not agree.

They carried this whole charade out as a pandemic bore down on us from China. Too busy with a fantasy dream to care about reality. Now they blame Trump for a delay?

I like my version better. I see things as they are and wish they weren’t so.

For now, the dreams seem to be winning and we are living in someone elses nightmare, where reality is to be avoided at any cost. The double standards and hypocrisy are only legitimate means, to them.

  1. […] Back early in the year, I declared this year would be the year of hypocrisy. Well, that may not be that big of a prediction. But I didn’t know what was going to happen, it was simply based on the trajectory of politics at the time. You could read those posts here and here. […]
