Here is a sort of philosophical question. Do elections mean different things to different sides of the isle? (I’ll use the customary ‘political isle’ though it is more like a canyon)
More precisely, do results of an election mean different things to different sides? I have to say yes. I already explored winning in the past – – each side claiming different meanings. But there are differences between sides in losing as well.
Neither side does losing very well. No one likes to lose. However, when the game is rigged it turns so-called “losing” into a philosophical game of concession. Make one admit loss.
In the case of this election, with fixed parameters in a rigged process, the idea of concession to a fixed game seems entirely pointless and out of the question. What does it mean then? It boils down to someone cheating another person out of an outcome. I think we have already established that happened. So what does that do for the concept of losing?
Well, besides hanging the world’s biggest asterisk over this election, it establishes doubt the results were really legit. But then nothing with Donald Trump’s presidency has been fair from the beginning. So why expect it now? I don’t think people did.
That frames a change in presidents in a whole new light. Put it another way, Democrats were not happy enough with a rigged election, but they want legitimacy. They also want to prevent Trump or anyone else from even contesting it. Prevent that and the whole process becomes a default selection, not a real election.
Now we come back to what is the meaning of election results if they were skewed, distorted, corrupted and then sanctioned by every authority as legitimate? What is that value? Well, it means the bar of “legitimacy” or legitimate just got a whole lot lower.
So are results of a corrupt election even important under those conditions? Everyone can make his or her own judgment on that. Mine is results really don’t matter. And no one can put legitimacy of the process back into the equation because it is done.
Then, the results turn into a stain. I guess that is where it ends. They are no longer legitimate results but a stain on our history. It makes the president presiding over that stain nothing more, and no more legitimate.
On the other side, they pretend the results were Constitutionally legit. They pretend some authority exists in that. So what they wanted from election results was an uncontested forfeiture to a flawed process. Absent that, they can only make assertions. Pretending is an art that works rather well for the Left.
So we have two different election results, not just interpretations of results, between two different sides. It means two sides have two entirely different meanings for results. Never the two shall meet.
The Left is particularly adept in spinning results of things. This time it is much more than simply spinning them. But they cannot put legitimacy back into the results.
