The Ire Of The People Up For Grabs

What is the ire of the people? I’m not trying to be snarky but ask because every time the Left pushes a radical issue, they present it as the ire of the people screaming — as in the masses have spoken. You might expect a dramatic gong sounding in the background.

Discussion is over. Debate is done, and the only decision remaining is the price. That’s how they see it. The people are mad. If it were only so. The drama is high and Democrats lie.

But this is how they frame their demands. They are also constantly trying to stir the anger, angst and animosity in some segment of people to try to make their case.

As in everything the Left does, presentation is key. And that can be as radical as they are; nothing is off the table. Violence or whatever is only used to add legitimacy and importance to the issue —  instead of minimizing it. So they can’t go wrong with rioting, looting, violence, or burning down the town. The more the better. It demonstrates “passion.”

The right doesn’t operate that way — or hasn’t. They take a deliberative approach using dialogue, reason, persuasion and process. But those don’t matter to the left. It feels it owns process. We like to believe our methods will eventually work. But not so much.

The Left seems to gain as we sit talking about it. Increasingly, Democrat  legislators act the same way using Leftist tactics. Force is glorified, and any means to the desired ends.

On the right, legislators act the same way the right always has, with reason and dialogue. (often to no one because the Left is not interested) Always asserting that we can win this or that battle. Soldier on righteously. On and on it goes, zzzzzzz.

Meanwhile, the scoreboard tilts in the Left’s favor. Goalposts are often moved. We take note but keep applying the same tactics of reason and dialogue, peppered with passion and persuasion. Have you noticed lately how irrelevant reason has become?

There can be no denying the goalposts have shifted over the years. And we must admit fundamentally that the left and right do not value the same things, or see reality the same way. Let’s not kid ourselves. They are trained in political gain.

But there is such a time and place for honesty, even if it is in small doses. So let us be honest for a minute what the ire of the people is. We know, as the Declaration states that people are known to tolerate sufferable harm for so long, but there is a limit to tolerance. It is not endless tolerance to evil. Eventually, intolerance becomes a welcome asset.

Much of what we see rolled out in front of us are not sufferable evils, but intolerable ones.

What gets most normal, common people’s ire up is when it affects them personally. Since personal freedom, faith and family are things we value, those grievances can grab and focus our attention like nothing else. (rights and freedom are non-negotiable)

Go after our freedom, job, home, attack our family, our way of life; mess with our health, restrict our income; mess with our security; or mess with our kids, their education, schools and their future; and you have got our undivided attention. It is personal. That is where the ire of the people lies. We take it all as personally as it is. It is not some phony activism but very real. We tend to respond the same way, as the personal grievance it is.

But when you hear and watch this phony outrage-activism roll out prepackaged on the Left, they always claim to speak for the ire of the people. That is the organizers and Marxist leaders claim to speak for “victims” which they almost never are.

They are forever telling us what Americans or “most Americans” want. Who are they? Who made them the spokesmen for Joe America? They cite polls or selective sources to make their point. Then they move to preferred violence, looting and burning methods.

But people don’t like that. It offends our sense of fairness. The left believes it will get what they want, which is all that matters. That their violence can be ignored, denied and excused to justify whatever their cause.

I suggest they are doing all the above with alarming, deliberate ease to insult the integrity of the people’s sensibilities. The left can try to channel, redefine or nterpret the ire of the people as they like, but we know what it is. After all, that is about all we have.

So we know where the real ire of the people lies, and what it really is. Suppose we start acting like it? Doing so should not require any apologies. It is not a fictional demographic.

“Viva la Ire!”….  Too soon?
