Cooper illustates the Russian debacle

I have sadly fallen into an alternative reality. It is not by choice. I watched a CNN segment on Anderson Cooper that illustrates a huge political problem in America.

However, this confirmation of the problem comes ironically from two different players, in almost reversed positions from their respective sides. An irony of juxtaposition.

Stephen Cohen —

“American scholar and professor emeritus of Russian studies at Princeton University and New York University”…”During the 2014 unrest in Ukraine, Cohen drew criticism for his “pro-Russian” views with sources describing him as an apologist for Putin and the Russian government. Cohen personally describes himself as an American “dissenter” and argues that the media stifle anyone who even tries to understand the situation from the Kremlin’s perspective while stigmatizing them as Putin apologists for doing so. [Wikipedia]

In an article in The Nation, Cohen stated that the US political-media establishment was silent about “Kiev’s atrocities” in the Donbass region. His article was, in turn, criticized by Cathy Young as “error-riddled” narrative and “embarrassing” repetition of Kremlin propaganda.

Gary Kasparov — Most people know Kasparov as the famous chess champion but recently as a great authority on all things Russia. His new book is “Winter is coming”.

On the eve of Secretary Tillerson’s visit to Russia, after the Syria missile message, Cohen takes the side of questioning everything about the missile strike to questioning the intentions of Trump. Never mind the intentions of one Vladimir Putin.

He claims tensions have never been higher between US and Russia that we were never so close to war and that this is a new cold war high in the relationship. That mantra should sound familiar. But everyone emphasizes Cohen’s foremost expertise on Russia.

That’s exactly where Kasparov comes in. He was astonished how this mantra leaves Putin’s intentions unchallenged — by intent or not. He was visibly offended. Knowing full well some of the limits and trail of dead bodies in Putin’s wake, he unloaded on Cohen’s reasoning ability. Ah, and that is exactly where liberals hate being challenged. Because emotion and politics are a driving force, it replaces their reasoning ability. He called Cohen’s brand of politics towing the Kremlin line.

Of course, to his pedigree, Cohen goes on the offensive against the Trump administration and Tillerson, for his ties to Russia. Okay Tillerson, or Trump for that matter, are compromised by Russia but he is not. Then he took the Russian perspective that he sees no evidence or proof that either Syria or Russia was involved in the chemical attack.

Kasparov pointed out that Cohen’s were the same talking points the Kremlin and Putin are using, to point blame everywhere else, to us and terrorists, rather than at Assad. Then he asserted the same thing Putin said, that this chemical was possibly a terrorist stockpile hit during a bombing run. Well, but days after Russia and Syria planes were trying to destroy evidence by more bombing. So why would they be trying to cover it up and destroy evidence, even bombing the hospital after 5 hours — if terrorists or rebels were responsible for the gas attack?

Kasparov seems to nail the box of Cohen’s positioning shut. He tells Cohen that Russia has long used anti-American dissent as a core in their propaganda.

There you have it — if it is not obvious — here is an American skeptic, dissenter, professor, academic and expert representing the Russia side of things and a Russian representing the US side of things. Striking irony.

Kim Jong Un has issues with aggressive “words”

Allow me to paraphrase Kim in proper English vernacular

Those “aggressive words” are causing the trouble. Those voices and words in my ears infuriate me and cause me to kill my own people, build nuclear weapons, send missiles at neighbors for any occasion, threaten the entire region, then test my weapons.

Hell, I even offed my own uncle, and had my stepbrother murdered in a foreign country. I must do these things because of the vicious voices.

Those words and voices are causing me to do all sorts of things like threaten preemptive strikes, invade neighbors, and threaten to use nuclear weapons against the US. Those voices are causing trouble. And the president of the US should stop his aggressive tweets – causing all this trouble.

I, however, am over here peacefully minding my own business building my nuclear bombs and arsenal, testing them; and along come these vicious voices annoying and distracting my legitimate, peaceful operation here.

I’m ready to preemptively bomb those distractors of my agenda.

Well that is a liberal paraphrase of Kim Jong Last-Un’s words. So I slightly embellished on his threats…which is really hard to do.

But then in Kim Jong the last’s view, he is bloody well right.

The Day That Lives In Infamy

History.com

Just before 8 a.m. on December 7, 1941, hundreds of Japanese fighter planes attacked the American naval base at Pearl Harbor near Honolulu, Hawaii. The barrage lasted just two hours, but it was devastating: The Japanese managed to destroy nearly 20 American naval vessels, including eight enormous battleships, and more than 300 airplanes.

More than 2,000 Americans soldiers and sailors died in the attack, and another 1,000 were wounded. The day after the assault, President Franklin D. Roosevelt asked Congress to declare war on Japan; Congress approved his declaration with just one dissenting vote.

Coverage and Speech

Former Military leaders support Trump

88 former military leaders and Generals support Trump, in a letter released.

CNN

The group, which was organized by Maj. Gen. Sidney Shachnow and Rear Admiral Charles Williams, praised Trump and declared that “the 2016 election affords the American people an urgently needed opportunity to make a long-overdue course correction in our national security posture and policy.”

“enemies have become emboldened, sensing weakness and irresolution in Washington … in our professional judgment, the combined effort is potentially extremely perilous.”

[in their national security letter] “As retired senior leaders of America’s military, we believe that such a change can only be made by someone who has not been deeply involved with, and substantially responsible for, the hollowing out of our military and the burgeoning threats facing our country around the world. For this reason, we support Donald Trump’s candidacy to be our next Commander-in-Chief.”

Obama the agent of the enemy

A reminder that in 2014, Claire Lopez diagnosed the mission of Obama and little has changed since. It’s time the cold truth is finally known. What we have here is not a communication failure, what we have is full blown treason.

CIA Officer: Obama is a Muslim Agent with Brotherhood Ties to Take Down USA

by Jason DeWitt | November 2015 | Top Right News

Clare Lopez is a former CIA officer, and she is risking her professional career to call out President Barack Obama in the biggest way possible.

Lopez is well respected in the intelligence community and worked in the Reagan White House. After two decades in the field with the CIA, and as an instructor for special forces and intelligence students, Lopez is now with the Center for Security Policy managing the counter-jihad and Shariah programs.

Now, she is claiming Obama is why America has completely “switched sides” during the war on terrorism. America is now supporting the enemy, especially through the Muslim Brotherhood.

Lopez has been unwilling to speak in public, but has confined with a few members of the House of Representatives her serious concerns about Obama’s motivations about foreign policy decisions.

Lopez noted that the war on terrorism has always been about stopping the spread of Shariah Islamic law, until Obama started to make major changes which clearly supported the Muslim Brotherhood’s jihadist interests.

She said the global war on terror had been an effort to “stay free of Shariah,” or repressive Islamic law, until the Obama administration began siding with such jihadist groups as the Muslim Brotherhood and its affiliates.

The transition was easy for Obama, who already hates American values and principles as an ideologically radical…

Why the switch?

Lopez explained, when the so-called Arab Spring appeared in late 2010, “It was time to bring down the secular Muslim rulers who did not enforce Islamic law. And America helped.”

And why would Obama want to do that?

As she told WND earlier this month, Lopez believed the Muslim Brotherhood has thoroughly infiltrated the Obama administration and other branches of the federal government.

She also came to the conclusion Obama had essentially the same goals in the Mideast as the late Osama bin Laden: “to remove American power and influence, including military forces, from Islamic lands.”

And,

The former CIA operative said, “as Israel fought enemies on all sides to remain free, secure and Jewish, America began to move away from Israel and toward its Muslim enemies. And, as Iran moved inexorably toward a deliverable nuclear weapons capability, America helped.”

In addition, Lopez claims that the only reason Obama approved of the killing of Osama bin Laden is he simply couldn’t ignore the chance without looking suspicious. The opportunity presented himself, and he “couldn’t delay it any longer.”

Yet this mission continues and he remains committed to his agenda. Then came the Iran deal on top of it. His agenda has slithered along undeterred.

The Incredible Shrinking Obamuslim Presidency

Once again Obama goes on another trip and something major happens — like a terrorist attack — to overshadow his trip. No, it does not derail his plans or the trip, he goes on in spite of it. Party on!

Seen at a baseball game after making a short statement about Brussels, Obama got right into full swing of doing the wave with Castro in a photo op. Then he skittles off to Argentina, again making a short reference to the terrorism in Brussels. In Cuba he called it the scourge of terrorism. Very clever wording but it is the scourge of Islamic terrorism.

Now news comes out that ISIS bombing numbers again declined in February.

Bloomberg News

The U.S. and its allies last month dropped the fewest bombs on Islamic State targets in Iraq and Syria since June, even though defense officials say the campaign to defeat the terrorist group has been accelerating.

U.S.-led forces dropped 2,054 munitions last month, down from 2,694 in January and 3,139 in December, according to Air Force data.

The U.S. has dropped fewer munitions per sortie against Islamic State targets than in any operation since the Cold War ended because this campaign “has been extremely difficult to prosecute” Harmer said.

As of next year, hopefully we will not have a Muslim Spokesperson-in-Chief in the WH. Wouldn’t it be novel to take terrorism seriously rather than make excuses for it? Wouldn’t it be nice if every WH trip or photo-op was not accompanied by some disaster; and another lecture of Obama’s was not followed by events to the contrary?

The sailor propaganda wasn’t the worst part

Just another day undermining America, for the Obama administration.

BREAKING: Defense Secretary Slips Up, Reveals Obama Admin LED IRAN Straight to Our Sailors

Conservative Tribune

It doesn’t matter if “the 3 a.m. phone call” comes in the middle of the day. Not only will the Obama administration not answer it, but they’ll aid our enemies instead.

First came the fact that President Barack Obama refused to address the arrest of 10 of our sailors by the Iranian military after their boats had mechanical trouble at sea. Then came news that the Obama administration had offered the Iranians an apology for the release of the sailors.

Now comes the disturbing revelation, apparently delivered by Defense Secretary Ashton Carter, that the Obama administration tipped off the Iranians that our soldiers were lost at sea and requested their aid. /…

Did you ever think someone would be so careless and or reckless with our country and our men and women defending it? Wait, he still has 12 months left, enough time to give up America’s arsenal. Maybe Obama should have called Tehran to help out in the Benghazi attack? Oh, right Obama wasn’t around for that. So Tehran probably told them ‘okay, this time, but don’t make a habit of it.’

State of the nation is gross incompetence, with a strong dictatorship strain

There is an increasing consensus out there formed over years.

The State Of The Nation: A Dictatorship Without Tears

Source: John Whitehead via The Rutherford Institute  | Blacklisted News

“Government incompetence, corruption and lack of accountability continue to result in the loss of vast amounts of money and weapons. A Reuters investigation revealed $8.5 trillion in “taxpayer money doled out by Congress to the Pentagon since 1996 that has never been accounted for.” Then there was the $500 million in Pentagon weapons, aircraft and equipment (small arms, ammunition, night-vision goggles, patrol boats, vehicles and other supplies) that the U.S. military somehow lost track of.”

“If this brief catalogue of our national woes proves anything at all, it is that the American experiment in liberty has failed, and as political economist Lawrence Hunter warns, it is only a matter of time before people realize it.”

One may not agree with the entire synopsis but it is hard to disagree with the facts. Actually, the “revolution” that some are calling for is more of the same at a faster pace. Just see the progressives’ talking points for that.

What we knew on Bergdahl swap

But what will they do about it?

The Hill:

The report said the administration broke a law requiring it to give members of Congress 30 days’ advance notice of any detainee transfers from the Guantánamo Bay detention facility, where the senior Taliban leaders were held.

http://thehill.com/policy/defense/262772-house-report-says-obama-officials-misled-public-on-berghdahl-swap

Don’t we just love how they investigate the illegal actions of this administration but then cannot or don’t do anything? So, for the record now, we found he broke the law. But we knew that. Everyone with a 5th-grade education knew he did.

Thanks Congress, that was a real tough call.

I’m offended by Muslims

Yes, you read that right. It’s not politically correct, you say? No, but it is correct to say. (Sorry Hillary, Obama, et al)

News for Muslims: I’m offended we have to sacrifice and fight this battle of Islamic terrorism. What are you doing? What have you done about it? Do you plan on doing anything about it? But our men, women, civilians, and soldiers are killed and maimed by this ideology, which happens to align itself with Islam and Muslims’ faith.

War with Islamists is a 100 year war, but also a permanent one. No one wants to think this is a permanent state of the world. It’s a way of life. Yet our leaders are crying and whining about global warming being a permanent condition of this world. They want us to change our entire lifestyle to reflect that reality their scientists’ claim. No, they demand we do.

I’m offended by Muslims. They all offend me, since they haven’t been able to stop ISIS or any of the other 100 plus terrorist groups. Have Muslims at large ever prevented or intercepted a terrorist plot? Even if they did it would only be one plot, one act. Can they show me a mosque or network that they shut down? No. Do they want us to police it?

But when France was attacked, a Muslim group ran out to say they condemned this act on the strongest possible terms. What’s that mean and what is that worth? Are they just going to come out every time and condemn the act? Are they also condemning ISIS for their existence? Sorry, I’m having a hard time qualifying their condemnation.

Yet they, Muslims and Islamists, tell us that the real problem is people like me that suggest the whole religion might be to blame. That’s the problem they are concerned about and that’s the problem they want all of America (everyone) to actively work on. They want our government stepping in to prevent that injustice. Their biggest worry is that their religion is being slandered somehow by the victims and citizens of the world.

Some people say they are afraid to speak out or come forward to criticize ISIS or Islamist radicals. Yet they are not afraid to come out to criticize us for “hating” on Islam. Isn’t Islamic terrorism giving Muslims a bad name? Wouldn’t you think they would be concerned about that enough to take a stand and do something to stop it? We’ve been waiting over 12 years now. It hasn’t happened and doesn’t look like it is going to happen. It has declared war on us and civilization. It is left to the world to deal with and combat it. That is insulting and offensive.

Blimp goes AWOL

So its run came to an end after causing real damage.

There were no injuries reported. NORAD said a military recovery team was on the way to the area. Moreland Township is about 20 miles east of Williamsport, and about 120 miles northwest of the proving ground. At one point the blimp climbed to 16,000 feet, NORAD said.

The blimp had a tether of approximately 6,700 feet — more than a mile — attached when it broke free, Aberdeen Proving Ground said.

The dragging cable knocked out power to around 30,000 people in Pennsylvania, Gov. Tom Wolf’s office said in a statement. By Wednesday night power was restored to most customers, with 311 without electricity as of 11 p.m., power company PPL Electric said.

http://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/fighter-jets-track-military-blimp-drifting-over-pennsylvania-n453106

But then you gotta love the claim number to call if you had damage from the blimp, which caused mass power outages. Yep, just another day in government work!

Kerry seeks no fly zone

And Obama flies by the seat of his pants on Syria.

CNN reports – 10/6/2015

Washington (CNN)Secretary of State John Kerry has raised the possibility of a no-fly zone in Syria to protect civilians even as President Barack Obama has consistently rejected the idea, several administration officials told CNN.

Turkey, France and the Syrian opposition have long pushed for a safe zone to protect civilians from Syrian airstrikes, but the Obama administration has repeatedly rejected the idea as too difficult to implement.

Senior administration officials said serious logistical concerns remain, including who would enforce it and the need to divert resources from the campaign against ISIS.

Senior administration officials said Russian airstrikes have repeatedly targeted CIA-backed rebels, despite Moscow’s assertion that it is only attacking ISIS targets.

http://www.cnn.com/2015/10/06/politics/john-kerry-no-fly-zone-syria-obama/

Obama says its too difficult calling the arguments for it mumbo jumbo. Funny how mumbo jumbo, from Obama, was in fashion in Libya and on Egypt.

“When I hear people offering up half-baked ideas as if they are solutions, or trying to downplay the challenges involved in this situation — what I’d like to see people ask is, specifically, precisely, what exactly would you do, and how would you fund it, and how would you sustain it. And typically, what you get is a bunch of mumbo jumbo.”

So his position is: ‘ask everyone else questions, not me.’ We get enough mumbo jumbo from Obama. I wonder where his Muslim Brotherhood help is? Speaking of “downplaying challenges involved,” we weren’t the ones calling ISIS a JV team mocking their abilities.

Though in the trails of is adventures, Obama’s own half-baked ideas have been on the menu despite the advice against it. No-fly zones were all the rage in Libya — which worked out real well.

Barry has an excuse for every type of action mentioned, from no-fly zones to aiding the rebels to helping Kurds. He mocks any suggestions for not appreciating the complexities. Obama had approved a training program, which netted 4 or 5 trained fighters in the 500 million dollar program. Now that plan is being scrapped. Mission failure complete.

Obama said of the no fly zone proposals:

“…but my job is to make sure that whatever we do we are doing in a way that serves the national security interests of the American people, that doesn’t lead to us getting into things that we can’t get out of or that we cannot do effectively.”

His job is saving his ass from shame or embarrassment, which he seems to be getting in spades for not doing anything. Only in Obama’s utopian reality did he expect to be commended for not doing something. Now he complains about the difficulties of possibly having to do something. National security interests of American people? When has he worried about that: Benghazi, border, sanctuary cities, executive amnesty, denying the ISIS threat, illegal alien crimes, not having a strategy, enforcing the law, answers for Benghazi, Iran nuclear deal.(speaking of getting into bad deals)

Now that Russia has inserted itself in the middle of Syria, it seems Putin has again helped Obama by creating another excuse. Barry owes Vlad for the efforts. He criticizes their efforts while it creates cover.

Well, Obama already made a big mess in Libya, and gave a big assist in Egypt’s disaster a few years ago. He is now reaching for strategy on Syria, and for ISIS. He decided long ago not to do anything there. So it is a matter of condemning any suggestions.

Obama and Kerry have already applied their boilerplate explanation on what Russia is doing. They “are acting out of weakness.”

At this point maybe the military is hoping Obama doesn’t have any more half-baked ideas of his own up his sleeve. But then clearly the major security threat is climate change anyway. Never mind the climate coming from Moscow is not very hospitable — and global temps are spiking.

I got an idea. Why can’t Obama call Russia and Putin racist and tell them they are only doing this because he’s black. They would never do this if he was white.

Dump on Trump bandwagon

After the statements from Trump on McCain’s war hero status, the road tour began.

Here were McCain’s statements on Morning Joe. Note the demeanor.
If you don’t want to watch all, see opening 2 min. and then @ the 12 min mark.

It’s alright when McCain calls whole swaths of people crazies. Ha ha ha, we’re all used to it. (Wacko birds was funny too, and hobbits etc.) He laughed that he talks to his people all the time. He considered the “crazies” label “a term of endearment”, a compliment.

He even tried twisting it around that he is called crazy by his constituents. Only Obama calls us as many names as McCain. He expects people to side with him against trump. He’ll be watching the polls.

Here’s Lindsey Graham calling Trump a Jackass. Way to go…keep yourself relevant

“This is the beginning of the end of Donald Trump”…”I am really pissed.” — says angry Lindsey Graham. He got the jackass in twice. (see a scheme of Mc-Graham?)

Unless McCain didn’t get the message from Obama, he lost the election with the GOP nomination. Now he’s right back here lecturing us and calling us names, as usual. What about the apology he owed the GOP base since about 2000?

Now McCain is playing politics with an insult he started, while he calls his own constituents names along with the Party base. And Graham is one pissed off cracker, for sure.

Update: Des Moines Register Editorial calls on Trump to drop out.

Factoring Obama

Finally, O’Reilly called something almost entirely right about Obama.

Obama has stated that they have no strategy for Iraq or opposing ISIS. Big surprise. But what he should have said was “I don’t really care about it“. He didn’t.

Bill O Talking Points Memmo (June 8, 2015)

He was asked about ISIS and why the USA does not have a strategy to stop the brutal jihadists.

OBAMA: “When a finalized plan is presented to me by the Pentagon, then I will share it with the American people. It’s not – we don’t yet have a complete strategy because it requires commitments on the part of Iraqis, as well ((EDIT)) The details of that are not yet worked out.”

So after nearly two years, the USA still does not have a plan to confront ISIS.

Here’s what the president said last August:

August 28, 2014, White House press conference

OBAMA: “We don’t have a strategy yet. I think what I’ve seen in some of the news reports suggests that folks are getting a little further ahead of where we’re at than we currently are.”

Now there are only two possible scenarios here.

One, that the U.S. military is grossly incompetent and cannot come up with a plan to defeat a terror group comprised of about 30,000 individuals.

Or two, that the president of the United States lacks the will to defeat an enemy that threatens every American.

Talking Points is throwing in with option number two.

Mr. Obama simply does not see the urgency and does not have the fire to take on terrorists who are slaughtering thousands of innocent people.

That’s the truth, and sadly millions of Americans are willing to accept that fact and still support the president. […/]

Of course we are back to the same old proverbial question about Obama’s motives. Either he is: (1)the most incompetent boob ever, or(2) his ideology and agenda are more less working, as planned, to create chaos for America — his number one mission. The problem is that Obama himself has been systematically ruling out the first possibility since his first day in office. There is no one in the world who could be as incompetent as Obama looks. He is just as quickly ruling in the latter possibility that this outcome is his agenda.

He already had at least two statements on ISIS before — two of them a year ago — in which he said they did not have a strategy yet. They did later claim to have cobbled one together. Though really not much of a strategy, except to declare it is a long-term problem. Yea, caliphates generally are!

Yet we are out ahead of where they were at? But we’re not in denial, then or now.

So Obama’s first rule seems to be to deny what ISIS is. If that is part of his strategy then you really have to question the rest of it. So basically: ‘we will fight it and destroy it while not calling it what it is; and deny the source of the terrorism while admitting I don’t have a strategy.’ Sound like a plan? It does to Obama and that is the problem.

How can he be so hopeful about defeating something without a strategy? I know, it’s a faith-based strategy like his faith-based campaign, like his faith-based Obamacare. No, the optimism on defeating ISIS is camouflage to cover for the mission failure of that goal — which he would have to know it is, since almost everybody else sees it’s a failure. Then his backup plan to cover up that is to just blame it on the Pentagon for not having a strategy. Seems to be just smoke and mirrors at this point.

Speak loudly and carry a big threat

That should be the new motto for the Marxist, militant left.

Michele takes to the campuses to exact her vengeance on America — structural racism in particular, since that is the left’s new code word no matter who is in office.

And in the face of all of that clamor, you might have an overwhelming instinct to just run the other way as fast as you can. You might be tempted to just recreate what you had here at Oberlin -– to find a community of like-minded folks and work with them on causes you care about, and just tune out all of the noise. And that’s completely understandable. In fact, I sometimes have that instinct myself — run! (Laughter.)

But today, graduates, I want to urge you to do just the opposite. Today, I want to suggest that if you truly wish to carry on the Oberlin legacy of service and social justice, then you need to run to, and not away from, the noise. (Applause.) Today, I want to urge you to actively seek out the most contentious, polarized, gridlocked places you can find. Because so often, throughout our history, those have been the places where progress really happens –- the places where minds are changed, lives transformed, where our great American story unfolds.

Then came the lecture on social justice (their definition) and the get out to vote message. Is that all they care about: politics, elections, and political power? Some “struggle” that is.

So get out there and volunteer on campaigns, and then hold the folks you elect accountable. Follow what’s happening in your city hall, your statehouse, Washington, D.C. Better yet, run for office yourself. Get in there. Shake things up. Don’t be afraid. (Applause.) And get out and vote in every election -– not just the big national ones that get all the attention, but every single election. Make sure the folks who represent you share your values and aspirations.”

Raw raw sis boom bah!
Hold them accountable? Unless you elect Hillary Clinton, then ignore accountability just like now. And while she’s running, give her a big wet-kiss pass.

If Michele was pounding the bigotry of racism, social justice, and revolution; then Obama is pounding the Global Warming propaganda just as arrogantly hard to Coast Guard grads.

“Climate change will impact every country on the planet. No nation is immune. Climate change constitutes a serious threat to global security, an immediate risk to our national security, and, make no mistake, it will impact how our military defends our country. And so we need to act — and we need to act now.”

“Many of our military installations are on the coast, including, of course, our Coast Guard stations. Around Norfolk, high tides and storms increasingly flood parts of our Navy base and an air base. In Alaska, thawing permafrost is damaging military facilities. Out West, deeper droughts and longer wildfires could threaten training areas our troops depend on.”

“You are part of the first generation of officers to begin your service in a world where the effects of climate change are so clearly upon us. Climate change will shape how every one of our services plan, operate, train, equip, and protect their infrastructure, today and for the long-term.”

So let me combine Obama’s cliff notes for the military. Do not talk about or mention Christianity or Jesus. That gets you in big trouble. Do put faith in the religion of global warming. Swear on the altar of climate change, talk about it all the time. Mission #1.

Well, Obama had already done his own rage routine earlier.

Luther, Obama’s anger translator:

HOLD ON TO YOUR LILY-WHITE BUTTS !!!

Oh don’t worry, Barry, we will… we are! (he couldn’t even say it himself)

JFK’S Secretary of State, Dean Rusk, was in France in the early 60’s when DeGaulle decided to pull out of NATO. DeGaulle said he wanted all US military out of France as soon as possible. Rusk responded, “Does that include those who are buried here?” DeGaulle did not respond.

You could have heard a pin drop

When in England, at a fairly large conference, Colin Powell was asked by The Archbishop of Canterbury if our plans for Iraq were just an example of ’empire building’ by George Bush. He answered by saying,” Over the years, the United States has sent many of its fine young men and women into great peril to fight for freedom beyond our borders. The only amount of land we have ever asked for in return is enough to bury those that did not return.”

You could have heard a pin drop.

Think happy thoughts – never forget what we promised to remember!
