Dems may need “lessons” to talk to Trump voters

What else would you expect? When Dems take a whooping like they did in November, they don’t need an autopsy for what they did wrong. No, they just need to learn to talk to those Trump voters. Er, you know, the people they have worked so damn hard to ignore for oh, about a decade or more.

I’ll take more ignorance, please, as long as you’re dishing it out.

Democrats hold lessons on how to talk to real people

Gathering in Sheperdstown, W.Va., Democrats were scheduled to hear from liberal political operative David Brock on Thursday, who ran a session called “Hold Trump Accountable” with Center for American Progress CEO Neera Tanden and Priorities USA CEO Guy Cecil. Earlier in the day, Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) moderated a “discussion with Trump voters,” according to a draft schedule obtained by POLITICO.

[topics include] “speaking to those who feel invisible in rural America,” “Listening to those feel unheard,” and “Rising America — They feel unheard too.”

In other news, Tucker Carlson gets jonathan Gruber back on Fox for his pinata routine.

BizPac Review

“I think that’s a prime example of the misinformation that has been spread. I just don’t think people understand what the law has done for them,” he said.

When asked about the people the law has hurt, Gruber said, “This law was never supposed to help everybody, Tucker. That wasn’t the design. The law was actually explicitly designed first in Massachusetts and then for the nation to leave the vast majority of Americans alone.

Gruber said the belief was that people who had health insurance would eventually benefit in the “long-term” by lowering cost. The law was designed to “fix what was wrong in our system.

Problem was it was sold on lies. All lies. So when they promised it would not affect people, it did. It did not leave us alone. But that was really the design. The sales pitch was that it would leave us alone. He got the sales pitch and design mixed up.

Live from Australia, it’s Prez know-nothing at the G-20 Summit commenting on Grubergate.

Obama: We didn’t mislead on health care bill

David Jackson, USA TODAY | November 16, 2014

President Obama says he and his administration did not mislead the public on the financing of the health care law, disputing statements by a consultant who said supporters of the bill took advantage of the “stupidity” of American voters.

“The fact that an adviser who was never on our staff expressed an opinion that I completely disagree with in terms of the voters is not a reflection on the actual process that was run,” Obama told reporters at a news conference following the G-20 summit in Brisbane, Australia.

“I would just advise every press outlet here: Pull up every clip and every story,” Obama said. “I think it’s fair to say there was not a provision in the health care law that was not extensively debated and was fully transparent — it was a tough debate.

From Politico:

“While Gruber was not a staffer, he was a paid consultant whose models were used to help assess the impact of various policy changes being considered as part of health care legislation. Official logs show he visited the White House about a dozen times between 2009 and this year.

It’s official, not only did they kick the prestigious professor Gruber to the curb, they completely disconnect him to the Obamacare bill.  Fully transparent, extensively debated – and fair to say that?  Back to the lying mode.

Once again, the Oval Office Occupant says he is just learning about this. I imagine Gruber will be stunned to find he had nothing to do with it. All those personal meetings apparently counted for nothing. Gruber is deemed less important than the WH fence jumper.

Politico reported:

When the president was asked whether he had intentionally misled the public in order to get the law passed, he replied: “No. I did not.”

Obama said the notion that any provisions in the bill were hidden is absurd given the intensity of news coverage of the subject when the bill was being drafted and debated in Congress.

Pelosi repeals history

The great thing is Gruber gives the opposition the way to personalize Obamacare. We heard Dems claim there were so many designers in the system, and of course behind closed doors, that they don’t want anyone responsible or tied to it. The beauty of group think is no one is accountable or blamed. But Gruber gave us the perfect opportunity.

The progressive Left lives and breathes to personalize their attack on an issue. (per Alinsky) And you know how important it is when San Fran Nan comes out deny even knowing who Gruber is. It was the one thing O-care lacked by its nature.

Nancy Pelosi at a House Speaker News Conference on November 5, 2009:
‘I don’t know if you have seen Jonathan Gruber of MIT’s analysis…’

November 13, 2014:

“Well, you gave an interesting set of observations, but one that you skipped is Mr. Gruber’s comments were a year old, and he has backtracked from most of them. He’s not even advocating the position that he was at some conference. So I don’t know who he is. He didn’t help write our bill. With all due respect to your question, you have a person who wasn’t writing our bill, commenting on what was going on when we were writing our bill, who has withdrawn some of the statements that he made. So let’s put him aside.”

Yea, let’s put no shove Gruber aside…off a cliff. “So I don’t know who he is.” And how will she deny all the money he was paid to be influential on it? What happened to that analysis she promoted? It’s the tax, stupid.

And how about a great shout out to that “hero, John Kerry”? This thing has more personalization on it than they would like. “We have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it” — and then no one is held responsible… away from the fog of accountability.

The Gruber story that didn’t exist does

There just has to be as much political posturing going on with MSM as Obama’s team did in Obamacare. First blood has now been drawn.

Hot Air has this nice, informative piece.

The hits keep coming: Gruber celebrates ‘mislabeling’ Obamacare in video #6

November 14, 2014 by Noah Rothman

The hits just keep on rolling in. After the previously unknown investment advisor Rich Weinstein established that there was a literal trove of videos featuring Obamacare architect Jonathan Gruber speaking candidly and in strikingly impolitic ways about the health care reform law and the American public he helped deceive, the mainstream press is now getting in on the act.

The sixth installment in the series of videos featuring Gruber crucifying himself was uncovered by CNN’s Jake Tapper:

The issue at hand in this sixth video is known as the “Cadillac tax,” which was represented as a tax on employers’ expensive health insurance plans. While employers do not currently have to pay taxes on health insurance plans they provide employees, starting in 2018, companies that provide health insurance that costs more than $10,200 for an individual or $27,500 for a family will have to pay a 40 percent tax.

Where do you go from there? MSM was definitely and defiantly not covering the story. Now CNN’s Trapper jumps on board. So there is a story there, what do you know. They probably just needed time to source it and all.

When all this kicks in, what a time it will be. Why did they pick the arbitrary date of 2018?

“But by starting it late, we were able to tie the cap for Cadillac Tax to CPI, not medical inflation,” Gruber said.

“This was the only political way we were ever going to take on what is one of the worst public policies in America, and every economist should celebrate this,” Gruber insisted.

“It’s on the books now,” Gruber added

Obama did the equivalent of planting a time bomb set to go off in stages. We just haven’t seen or felt the entire effects yet. I think GM ought to jump on a law suit for the name Cadillac tax, especially since they were using it to promote the program.

Eight States Are Facing Double-Digit Premium Hikes In 2015

11/12/2014 | Daily Caller

Louisiana and Kansas are facing Obamacare premium hikes of more than 15 percent on average. Iowa, Pennsylvania, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee will see rate lower double-digit rate hikes as well.

And it doesn’t include information from Alaska, Hawaii, Texas, North Dakota or Massachusetts. Alaska alone has some of the highest rate hikes on Obamacare exchanges in the country — Premera Blue Cross is upping rates between 35 and 40 percent and Moda Health by between 22 and 29 percent.

Effects of Obamacare (Affordable Care Act) aren’t just for policy wonks in think tanks.
