Barry’s ‘not ready for prime time’-foreign policy.
Obama spoke from a State Dinner in Manila, presumably with a toast to better days:
“You hit singles, you hit doubles; every once in a while we may be able to hit a home run,” Mr. Obama said at a news conference with Mr. Aquino. “But we steadily advance the interests of the American people and our partnership with folks around the world.” NYT
I have an analogy for him too. He’s either out in left field most of the time, or he’s not even in the ballpark.(and then he is on the golf course.)
Let’s see, gun running in Mexico advanced our interests. Weapons running and disastrous policies in Libya, when everyone else knew better. Getting an ambassador and three others killed and then lying about it, is a steady advance. More like ‘steady denial’.
Partnership, while lecturing our best ally in the Middle East about apartheid. That advanced both our interests.
Trying to push a Trans-Pacific Partnership and foreign trade while denying a pipeline with our northern neighbor. That’s real partnership and advancing the interests of the American people.
Meddling in Egypt supporting the Muslim Brotherhood sure advanced our interests.
We’re less liked around the globe now than when he came in office. And those are only the highlights. Plus Iran on the verge of nuclear weapons, while unwinding sanctions on them.
Seems like Obama never made it to first base. In 2012 he boasted about his superior foreign policy credentials, scolding Romney even after the terrorist attack on his Benghazi outpost killed our ambassador and three Americans. I know, he can blame the bat boy.(only in his wildest imagination could this be successful)
When he returns, the NYT says, he wants to “regain the offensive” by giving a couple speeches. That seems to be all he knows and his answer to everything. Even those will be laced with blame on others — the only kind of speech he knows how to give.
Call it what it is, Obama’s Diplomacy of Denial… or the Doctrine of Denial.
