After a cleanup effort spawned by many volunteers taking tons of trash from Baltimore, the Sun editorial board says thanks but no thanks, we got this race thing. (in their way)
What do you get for gestures of goodwill and your efforts? You get the finger from elitists trying to prop up status quo politicians of Baltimore’s inner city.
And pols like Cummings would rather use any publicity for fundraising opportunities to get re-elected. They would rather channel any dialogue to play politics as usual. The lamestream media, Baltimore Sun will chip in to give them kudos for their legacy failures.
“We assume it was pure motives that led a Trump supporter to launch a cleanup in Cummings’ district, right?”
It made for good photos, compelling videos and catchy Twitter hashtags. A group of conservatives rolled their pickup trucks into one of West Baltimore’s most impoverished neighborhoods Monday for a cleanup day. Loaded down with trash bags and shovels, they cleared alleyways of old tires, food containers, paper and other debris. They pulled up weeds and cut away overgrown grass. The group posted before and after pictures on social media showing their progress.
The effort was organized by pro-Trump activist Scott Presler. He claimed the event was not political. Yes, he was inspired to come by tweets from President Donald Trump describing the area, represented by U.S. Rep. Elijah Cummings, as a “rodent infested mess.” But the visit wasn’t about showing support or animosity for either man, he said…./

And then, to finish it off, they throw in the usual condescending leftist lecture in the face of your goodwill.
We also hope Mr. Presler keeps his promise to return to Baltimore once a month. It would definitely give his motives more credibility. It might also give him better perspective about the city’s problems than any single visit can provide. Maybe it could even lead him and his followers to advocate for federal housing, health care, transportation, education, criminal justice, civil rights and anti-poverty policies aimed at urban communities.
This is akin to someone washing your car for you, and you run over to say, “you missed a spot!” Then tell them “and you better show up every weekend now.”
But they failed, too, to point out the difference of what the left does vs. what the right does. We see it all the time. Instead of a cleanup effort, Leftists hold rallies to shout epithets at the president or his supporters, or against law enforcement.
They leave trails of trash from their “marches” — you know those posed protests, but are really choreographed fundraisers for Democrats and media consumption.
That’s what we get from the left, all politics all the time. Power and control is all they care about. Your neighborhoods’ woes are only their means to further their political ends.
And if a person is only showing his animosity for Cummings by cleaning up an area in his district, then what am I missing? That’s some heavy animosity.
