Democratic aide: GOP thinks “lying is a virtue”

(CBS News) As President Obama and the Democrats gear up for their convention in Charlotte, N.C., this week, Democrats unpacked their thoughts on last week’s Republican convention. Senior campaign aide Stephanie Cutter said she gathered that Republicans “think lying is a virtue.”

“It was a week of personal attacks, empty platitudes, and the one thing you were left with is they really think lying is a virtue,” Cutter said on “Face the Nation” Sunday.

When asked by host Bob Schieffer if she thinks Republicans are liars, she walked the statement back, slightly. “I heard a lot of things that weren’t true last week,” she said, pointing to vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan’s assertion that President Obama’s policies closed a Janesville, Wis., plant. The plant actually closed in 2008, before Mr. Obama took office. [….]

David Plouffe: Romney Campaign Built on ‘Tripod of Lies’

[excerpt]

(abc news) White House senior adviser David Plouffe charged that the Romney campaign is “built on a tripod of lies,” criticizing the Republican ticket for their attacks on President Obama over welfare, Medicare, and small businesses.

“Right now their campaign is built on a tripod of lies,” Plouffe told me this morning on “This Week.” “A welfare attack that is just absolutely untrue. The suggestion we’re raiding Medicare – absolutely untrue. And then this whole ‘we can’t build it’ nonsense.”

“I don’t think we’ve ever seen a presidential campaign ever that’s built on a foundation of absolute lies. And I think ultimately they’re going to pay a price for that,” Plouffe added.

Democratic National Committee chair Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz charged Thursday that the Romney campaign was playing the race card with the welfare attack, using it as a “dog whistle” for voters to consider race.

Michelle Obama (convention speech)

“I love that for Barack, there is no such thing as “us” and “them” – he doesn’t care whether you’re a Democrat, a Republican, or none of the above … he knows that we all love our country … and he’s always ready to listen to good ideas … he’s always looking for the very best in everyone he meets.”

They’ve institutionalized it.
And we’ve never seen a presidency built on such a foundation of lies.

Trouble in paradise…Chicago style

What happens when you get all those personalities clashing in the meat-grinder “machine” of Chicago’s campaign headquarters?

It sounds like Axelrod, Stephanie Cutter, and Debbie Wasserman Schultz have quite the family feud going. Occasional appearances by the tyrant-in-chief adds even more drama than a Lifetime Orignial. Fights over airtime and DWS, partisan hack extraordinaire, on the bench surrounded by fire extinguishers set the scene.

It sure isn’t the Love Boat!

And then this excerpt

Obama’s trash-talking competitiveness, a trait that has defined him since his days on the court as a basketball-obsessed teenager in Hawaii, was on display one night last February, when the president spotted a woman he knew was close to Sen. Marco Rubio in a Florida hotel lobby. “Is your boy going to go for [vice president]?” the president asked her. Maybe, she replied.

“Well,” he said, chuckling, according to a person who witnessed the encounter. “Tell your boy to watch it. He might get his ass kicked.”

We need to kick his arrogant ass and send him back to Chicago.
