Quiet In The Face Of Evil

Democrats define the meaning of power. For them, it means running on pro-abortion, using the issue to gain power. And when someone calls it evil, they shrug it off as “you are just trying to take abortion rights away.” Note, I refuse to use the term reproductive rights.

When all the outrage came down over Gov Northam’s interview statements on abortion that could be described as infanticide, the Dems were speechless. Not for contempt but because they could not defend it. I mean Notham came right on and said what the agenda was in detail. How could they defend that?

They couldn’t say it was a lie or that it was fabricated and it was not out of context.

Then they adopted a more cavalier attitude. So what? They parsed it down that it somehow did not really mean anything because it was not that common. Instead, they shifted the debate to one about abortion or Roe v. Wade itself. But that was not the issue or source of outrage. Infanticide was.

All that dust up over Northam’s yearbook followed which is all anyone wanted to talk about since. Rather convenient is it not? They made the racism issue the bigger story.

Last night I heard a liberal Fox contributor give what must be the latest installment of talking points to divert from the issue. Jessica Tarlov made the claim that the “late-term” abortion description was a made up thing by conservatives. Yes, we invented the term, she said. But by it we are only trying to differentiate these from other abortions. Rightfully so. I suppose to her they are all just abortions, no need for any descriptors.

And she claimed that we were the only ones who use such terminology. Except for one thing, professionals and academics do as well. They commonly refer to earlier abortions vs later abortions. See, it is the element of time — which is development in the life of a fetus or baby — that Democrats do not want to acknowledge.

It would seem an important factor in many circumstances. But Jessica does not like the time frame being alluded to. We could also technically call them 3rd-trimester abortions. She probably would object to that, too. It reveals the developmental state of the baby.

If it is after 6 months, many people accept it can be a viable fetus. She would like to divert from the viability issue. Note how we are at fault for calling it “late-term.” I guess if you have no other argument or defense, then the only thing left is to argue over semantics and descriptors. No, she doesn’t want them to have an identifiable identity or humanity.

How does terminology change what Gosnell did or what Northam was talking about?

For background reference, here is the Grand Jury Report on Kermit Gosnell, in its details. By the way, it refers to late-term abortions as well as infants born alive and “infanticide.’ But then there can never be a full accounting for how many of these procedures were done, or how many babies were killed, because he destroyed the records.

When the Gosnell story finally broke in media, it was met with the same silence among Democrats and leftists that the media initially gave it. The same deadly silence that kept Gosnell in practice for years. Terminology was not the problem, what was done was. Even “fact-checkers” could not excuse it. So the answer was just do not talk about it.

But something else is also marked by that time frame of first, second and third trimester. That is the support for abortion according to trimesters. At late-term, only about 13% of people support it. So it sounds like she is the one with the language problem, everyone else knows what it is. Speaking of time, that dislike is consistently about the same since ’96 when they first began polling it. But blame it all on the words late-term abortion. Sigh.

Have you no decency left?

Sorry, I had to ask. That question should not have to come up. And there is no easy way to ask it. Everyone must now know what NY’s legislature and Gov Cuomo passed into law.

Let not the sacred stand in their way.

Looking at what NY did for abortion should have broken any outrage meter still remaining in this country. But even that, as hard as it is to believe, is not even registering on the MSM dashboard. It’s not a blip on their radar screen. Well, full swat raids on Roger Stone don’t even raise leftists’ eyebrows.

Folks, this no longer is that slippery slope we all feared for years. it is a full scale avalanche. But what exactly did they do you ask? Well, basically they legitimized and legalized what Kermit Gosnell was doing, and went to prison for. They wrote infanticide into a bill.

The New York Assembly voted Tuesday night to pass a landmark bill to expand abortion rights in the state, about 90 minutes after the bill cleared the Democratic-controlled Senate by a vote of 38-24.

The Reproductive Health Act moved to the desk of Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who immediately signed the bill into law Tuesday night. – Syracuse.com

They timed it on the Roe V. Wade decision anniversary. Building evil upon evil.

But let’s dispense with the usual BS about it. Snopes already has a fact check piece claiming it is not what it appears to be and what we say. Supposedly it just protects the health of the mother, they claim. Come on, because it is dressed up under some guise of a healthcare right does not change what it actually does. Legalizes late term abortion and infanticide.

So infanticide, or whatever name you want to give this, was passed by a Democrat majority in the state senate and gleefully signed into law immediately. That’s right, I said gleefully. Instead of sneers and hisses, with moral outrage, it is actually being celebrated.

Cuomo announced it under the banner of “Reproductive Justice” with “no time to wait.”

That’s right, at one time people would instinctively run to try to save lives, but in this case Democrats scrambled to legalize killing lives. This is not a culture war, this is annihilation of culture. Of life itself in the most vulnerable form. Is even life not sacred now? Even if you don’t believe life begins at conception, which science seems to confirm, then you must accept that life begins at some other point. But by any measure, this exceeds that and then some. This is killing human beings and no one can or should deny it. Justice?

Never mind the worry about what Russia did, what is happening in the Middle East, North Korea, or Venezuela; look instead at what a state in this country is doing. Then they celebrate over it and dance in the streets. Is this America or is someone fooling us?

The very same people lecture us on the Statue of Liberty caption for immigration. New version: “Give me….your huddled masses yearning to breathe free” and we’ll kill them.

How long will a nation that cannot protect its most vulnerable last? Here is where I take issue with some popular notions. Many people complain how bad things are that hardly anything surprises them anymore. Very true. I see it a little differently. Sure, culturally things are bad. But, despite all the evil going on for all to see, I believe there is a huge dam holding back a tidal wave of evil not yet seen or calculated. There are now some fractures in that dam, and structural fissures are mounting.

So while we all complain about the bad and evil we see, there is a greater threat looming over us worse than we even imagined. Dare our opponents or critics on the other side, politically, complain about climate change and destruction of our environment on the horizon, while this type of thing passes as an accomplishment to cheers.

There are evils ahead on the heels of this we cannot fathom. It is the way evil works. It is difficult to even talk about or write, much less conceive it. And then doing it in the name of some good or noble things is just an added bonus. Pretty soon we may dispense with that notion entirely. Why invent a clever name for it? People at some point may just demand evil in its plain, raw form. Who cares what anyone thinks; it is what they want.

Then, to hell with excuses or arguments to assuage, just do it because. So it is nice that while leftists lecture us on humanitarian wrongs and rights, the same people could come to a moment when they can drop all that moral posturing – or otherwise. Who needs pretense and a premise? Not them. Until now, the need for illogical arguments to convince us was all that stood in their way. But what is the point if that is no longer a problem?

And when things we have been worried about and warning of for decades start to happen with more regular frequency, at a faster pace than even we could have predicted, will the people stand for it? It turns out that does not matter if there is no longer much opposition. They will just do it because they can then damn you for trying to undo it — if even possible. Does this seem to surpass even Orwell’s predictions? I’d say so.

Democrats already have schemes to do away with the Hyde Amendment. The prohibition of Government funds directly paying for abortions. Not that Planned Parenthoods do not already get enough taxpayer funds. Plus, removing that burdensome restriction will likely be a key part of any new Democrat healthcare bill, especially a single-payer one.

My fear is very justified and real. The dam withholding that evil — vastly worse than any of these singular things — is looming large over us. And if it were to open, the torrent of evil unleashed would make the status quo so far look like a kindergarten recess. Somehow I see those stalwart Leftisits just hoping and plotting to blow that dam wide open. They’ll even use the euphemisms of freedom , greater good or protections to do it. They have no clue what it would do. But then they don’t care.

Late term and partial birth abortion seem to be the final solution but it is not the final evil, I assure you. It may be only a foretaste of far worse to come.

Dems oppose Gosnell resolution

Dems derail condemnation of ‘willful murder’

Substitute statement seeking prevention of ‘abusive’ treatment
by Michael Carl — WND

Two Senate Democrats apparently have blocked a resolution that would have condemned Philadelphia abortion murder case defendant Kermit Gosnell.

The proposed resolution cited Gosnell for the “untrained and uncertified personnel performing abortions, nonmedical personnel administering medications, grossly unsanitary and dangerous conditions, violations of law regarding storage of human remains, and above all, willful murder of infants born alive by severing their spinal cords.”

Instead, a substitute resolution expresses the sense of the Senate that “abusive, unsanitary, or illegal health care practices should be … prevented.”

The original cited Gosnell by name; the substitute only references “a physician at the Women’s Medical Society of Philadelphia.”

It was Sens. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., and Barbera Boxer, D-Calif., who stopped consideration of the resolution by dismissing the reports of infanticides that took place at Gosnell’s business.

To all the usual suspects, take a big bow.

It’s infanticide, stupid!

You’ve probably seen clips of this performance in Florida, but it’s worth seeing the whole video. Here is Planned Parenthood offering their moral support for infanticide.

Video: Planned Parenthood Official Argues for Right to Post-Birth Abortion

Florida legislators considering a bill to require abortionists to provide medical care to an infant who survives an abortion were shocked during a committee hearing this week when a Planned Parenthood official endorsed a right to post-birth abortion.

Alisa LaPolt Snow, the lobbyist representing the Florida Alliance of Planned Parenthood Affiliates, testified that her organization believes the decision to kill an infant who survives a failed abortion should be left up to the woman seeking an abortion and her abortion doctor.

Rep. Daniel Davis then asked Snow, “What happens in a situation where a baby is alive, breathing on a table, moving. What do your physicians do at that point?”

“I do not have that information,” Snow replied. “I am not a physician, I am not an abortion provider. So I do not have that information.”

Paraphrasing: ‘Oh, right, like you must mean that irrelevant, ancillary thing called a baby. Oh that!’

Sometimes they just don’t have the words to express their agenda.

Cuomo seeks to lift late-term abortion restrictions

NY Governor Cuomo wants to do all he can to restrict the rights of gun owners in his empirical state, though he wants to expand the right of women to kill their babies.

In my mind’s eye, I think therefore I am.

And he is willing to rewrite laws in order to expand killing babies, as something worthy of defending and preserving — sort of like what he is supposed to be sworn to do for the Constitution. He apparently is sworn to protect killing babies.

On his other hand, Cuomo is out for every restriction and ban he can get to infringe on the second amendment rights of people. Can’t get enough of that, fast enough.

Here is NYT covering his latest abortion “protection” maneuvers. (excerpts)

“ALBANY — Bucking a trend in which states have been seeking to restrict abortion, Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo is putting the finishing touches on legislation that would guarantee women in New York the right to late-term abortions when their health is in danger or the fetus is not viable.

Mr. Cuomo’s proposal, which has not yet been made public, would also clarify that licensed health care practitioners, and not only physicians, can perform abortions. It would remove abortion from the state’s penal law and regulate it through the state’s public health law.

New York legalized abortion in 1970, three years before it was legalized nationally by the Supreme Court in Roe v. Wade. Mr. Cuomo’s proposal would update the state law so that it could stand alone if the broader federal standard set by Roe were to be undone.

“Why are we doing this? The Supreme Court could change,” said a senior Cuomo administration official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the governor had not formally introduced his proposal.

But opponents of abortion rights, already upset at the high rate of abortions in New York State, worry that rewriting the abortion law would encourage an even greater number of abortions. For example, they suggest that the provision to allow abortions late in a woman’s pregnancy for health reasons could be used as a loophole to allow unchecked late-term abortions.

I am hard pressed to think of a piece of legislation that is less needed or more harmful than this one,” the archbishop of New York, Cardinal Timothy M. Dolan, wrote in a letter to Mr. Cuomo last month. Referring to Albany lawmakers in a subsequent column, he added, “It’s as though, in their minds, our state motto, ‘Excelsior’ (‘Ever Upward’), applies to the abortion rate.”

National abortion rights groups have sought for years to persuade state legislatures to adopt laws guaranteeing abortion rights as a backup to Roe. But they have had limited success: Only seven states have such measures in place, including California, Connecticut and Maryland; the most recent state to adopt such a law is Hawaii, which did so in 2006.  “

Swampland @ Time.com explains:

New York is one of the latter, with few abortion restrictions and greater access to the procedure than nearly any other state. Gov. Andrew Cuomo reportedly wants to widen access even further and has proposed rewriting a state law that now limits abortions after 24 weeks of pregnancy to women whose lives are in danger. Cuomo’s proposal, as reported by the New York Times, would also allow abortions after 24 weeks to protect a woman’s health. According to the New York Times, Cuomo wants to ensure wide access to abortion in New York state is on the books in case the Supreme Court ever overturns Roe v. Wade.

So he is willing to go to lengths, and prepare for any eventuality to “protect” abortion, just in case killing babies falls out of favor with SCOTUS. And he wants to make sure that late-term abortion is protected, even expanded. This is the reasoning of a Liberal mind. Preserving Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of happiness apparently means protecting killing babies. Yea, and that is worth preserving. Enumerated rights, not so much.

Protest looming

Filmmaker asks bishop to excommunicate Cuomo

WND – A faithful Catholic [Jason Jones] who is a human-rights activist and filmmaker has written a letter to the Catholic bishop in Albany, N.Y., asking him to excommunicate Gov. Andrew Cuomo for his support for abortion, which conflicts with church law.

The issue of pro-abortion politicians who claim to be Catholic has arisen several times lately, including when both Vice President Joseph Biden and U.S. Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., accepted Catholic communion during their visit to the Vatican for the installation of Pope Francis.

From his letter:

Governor Andrew Cuomo, as the New York Times reports, proposes to repeal any protection granted third-trimester fetuses in New York. His “reform” is supported by a wide array of public figures and powerful institutions, including the organizations that perform many of the abortions in your own diocese. The New York Times article notes that Cuomo is “bucking a trend in which states have been seeking to restrict abortion,” balancing the fight with “legislation that would guarantee women in New York the right to late-term abortions….” Through his bully pulpit, Governor Cuomo is spreading a falsehood every bit as toxic as the racism once shouted through bullhorns in 1962 New Orleans.

And in doing so, Cuomo is positioning himself to promote these ideas across the nation. The Washington Post calls Cuomo’s legislation a move with “big implications for Cuomo’s political future” when considered “in the context of his potential presidential ambitions.” In other words, a self-proclaimed Catholic in your diocese stands on the verge of becoming a national champion of policies utterly incompatible with Christian values. And you, Bishop Hubbard, are in the happy position of being able to do something about it.

But he can’t get enough of grabbing gun rights. Those rights need to be squelched, restricted, stomped on, and undone if possible. Just don’ try to restrict late-term abortions.

The right to Life, liberty and pursuit of happiness? Nah, but what Americans want is an unalienable right to abortion — that’s what they care about.

Gosnell, abortion “doctor” heads to trial

There are stories out there which , even for a hard news junky, are so disturbing that it is hard to read them let alone deal with the details. This is one such story.

Thanks to Pepperhawk for bringing up this one that has largely managed to be buried. The magnitude of this evil nature; had it been related to a conservative issue, would be front page, screamed from the mountaintops, and the topic of every talking point. Apparently this story just did not command that much attention from the Left. You know why.

And Dave, in his usual political savvy, pointed out the difference in the way Leftists like Peta treat their issues, with their lack of outrage on this matter.

This is from the current report from the NYT, though the Gosnell story broke in 2011. It has been serenaded by crickets by the left ever since. Maybe they were holding their breath, through two Abortion Anniversary celebrations, hoping it would die off.

Would they give this trial the same attention they give high-profile murder stories? I doubt that. It was on A17 in the hard copy.

Abortion Doctor’s Murder Trial Opens

By JON HURDLE – NYT
Published: March 18, 2013

(Excerpts from NYT)

PHILADELPHIA — In opening statements in court on Monday, prosecutors charged that a doctor who operated a women’s health clinic here killed seven viable fetuses by plunging scissors into their necks and “snipping” their spinal cords and was also responsible for the death of a pregnant woman in his care.

More than two years after he was arrested and the clinic was shut down, and 14 months after a grand jury report described the charges against him, Dr. Gosnell appeared in Common Pleas Court on Monday to face a trial that could result in the death penalty if he is found guilty.

His lawyer, Jack J. McMahon, described Dr. Gosnell as dedicated to treating the poor and accused prosecutors of racism — “a prosecutorial lynching” of his client, who is black.

It’s an elitist, racist prosecution,” Mr. McMahon said. “This black man is being taken because of who he is and where he works.”

One of the prosecutors, Joanne Pescatore, an assistant district attorney, told the court that Dr. Gosnell routinely performed illegal late-term abortions, killing the seven fetuses in operations that would have caused the infants pain.

“If the baby is alive and you don’t want it to be, that doesn’t mean you have the right to take a pair of scissors and plunge it into the baby’s neck,” Ms. Pescatore told the jury during opening arguments of a trial that is expected to continue for four to six weeks.

/….

I wanted to call special attention to this paragraph

… Mr. McMahon said his client had passed up lucrative positions in obstetrics and gynaecology so that he could provide an essential service in West Philadelphia, where he performed more than 16,000 abortions over 31 years.

More at NYT

Those words are apropos: provided an ”essential service in West Philadelphia “. It doesn’t take a brain to read that correctly. And this guy is claiming racism is driving the charges and prosecution against him.

So I guess that justifies puncturing and snipping the spinal chords of babies with scissors, and keeping souvenirs like babies’ feet in jars. I can see where racism fits here. The details that are bound to come out in this trial — aside from frequent chants of “racism” — ought to send anyone running for the toilet. And these are only the ones he is charged with in a lucrative business spanning decades.

Incidentally, any Pa state inspections were set aside under Governor Tom Ridge, because they might potentially discourage some abortions. The question raised by many people is should the state of Pa also be held responsible?

So the libs scream against “torture” by waterboarding, yet are mum on snipping spinal chords of babies even in late-term. Where’s the outrage? Unfortunate for the babies that never had “due process” or a chance to plead in court.
