What happens when the media becomes the enemy of the state? Well, we’re about to find out — if it hasn’t been getting clearer all along. It isn’t pretty.
There is no limit to how far the mainstream media zealots and agenda-driven hacks will go. They aren’t armed with the Freedom of Press but with a vendetta and an active imagination with a radical anti-American agenda. (like their messiah Obama)
Some will say, ‘but it’s good and necessary to have an adversarial press.’ Yes, but we are past that, way over that adversarial stage. We are in a new era of hate – resistance.
You can look at it this way, we now have an Independent Counsel investigation. We also have a press acting as if it were special prosecutors. That’s how they operate, with an assumption that they have all these extra powers, as lieutenants for the resistance.
So, in effect, we have the 2 major investigations in Congress. (plus the minor ones) both of them now coordinating with Mueller in the Special Counsel. Mueller feels he has de facto power, direct and indirect, over both of those bodies. And final word. Trump has O.
Then there is the press who thinks no rules apply to it — as if there are any in the other three. Media plays collaboratively off all three official bodies. They handle the steady leaks and anonymous sources, even creating their own news when needed to fill any gaps.
There are now leaks coming from the Special Counsel — which we were told would be super tight-lipped. The media worried at first they would be shut out of the info flow because Mueller does not tolerate leaks. Now he appears to be accommodating media.
It is now a full blown coup on the White House.under a unified front. So it comes from multiple directions. Don’t think we are quite there yet? Look around a little more.
Meathead Media is now covering all the voices calling for Sessions to leave. They have their sites on him. More intel leaks are said to justify him leaving. They say he can’t remain. The same voices and media talking heads are also calling for the impeachment process to begin. Many more than Auntie Maxine are chanting impeachment as if there it were as inevitable as his inauguration. Almost like it was planned.
Whether anyone is leaving yet, at this point, they are out to totally shut down this presidency. Make it so unable to function that he cannot survive. That’s the objective.
It just gets worse all the time, as the left ramps up radicalization of all assets at once. With the media being in the center of all the the activity. The harder you look the worse it is.
Here is what News Busters just reported a day ago. Press risks all for its agenda.
At the forum, CIA Director Mike Pompeo took to the stage slammed The New York Times for putting the life of an officer at risk. “We had a publication, you work for Bret, that published the name of an undercover officer at the Central Intelligence Agency. I find that unconscionable,” he angrily declared to the thunderous applause of the audience.
But get this, they seem more concerned for safety of anonymous sources that provide them information than covert operators. This is serious stuff. They are now endangering our national security and our people on the ground. But then the NYT person who was interviewing Pompeo explained it this way — or tried to.
The Times claimed one of the reasons they published the name was because it had appeared in other articles. [their own] Their second reason was that Donald Trump was the president. “[Redacted] is leading an important new administration initiative against Iran,” they said.
Wow, totally outrageous and vindictive. Saying it is justified because Trump is president… which somehow gives them the right to name the person again, with personal information. This is nothing like Valerie Plame. This is real time intel they are
messing playing with. Putting lives at risk, daily. Leaks, leaks and super leaks and no one cares.
What we have here is the CIA Director calling out the press right there live, at a security forum. Oh it might not be a hearing at the Capitol but this is even bigger. Right there on stage and people applauded Pompeo for bringing the heat. They deserve public shaming, not that it will work. Is it war?
This is not press or media, these are subversives acting out like seditious cells. That’s how they feel about Trump being President. Jeopardizing the nation’s security means nothing. Disdain for Trump above everything else. Hate rules, Resistance for resistance sake.
Radicals are lose.
And it seems, more and more every day, that not only are there real inherent conflicts and bias with Mueller’s entire team but that he is clearly out to extract a pound of flesh for Comey’s firing. Will he get it? Mueller went rogue from the start. Deep State. All weapons are out in a full assault. Media is at the center driving it all. Hostile enemies within.

That is not to say the idiocy of elections. We’ve seen the idiots exposed and it is not pretty. Should we be surprised since the media has managed to create multiple irrelevant narratives while ignoring the major issues?
And the one big issue was the determination of the people — all of us pissed off misfit deplorables — that wanted change, to right the good ship America. They missed it.
I had an analogy of Hillary Clinton’s campaign, and the DNC, to the Titanic. (I even saw someone else make it) They had built this monstrosity of her campaign that would just cruise through anything with all the glitter, pride and arrogance they could stuff into it. Then she thought she would just ride through the tides and she’d run out the clock.
She had the arrival party planned and the music was playing through the trip. No storms on their radar, just minor obstycles — like her corruption — to be ignored. They posed no threat because the people didn’t care about such things. “Boo, turn up the music.”
Now in the aftermath, the media and pontificators are telling us what the results mean. Well, if they didn’t know what the election was about then how can they be trusted to interpret the results? The point being the mood and will of the people. But that was deemed irrelevant even from the beginning. All that mattered to them was seeing Hillary get elected and continuing a third term of Obama. They ignored that 70% of the people who believed we’re on the wrong track. Hope and change is now hope it changes.
The election is over but the campaign continues. MSM and the Left campaigns as if the election didn’t happen, to define both the election and Trump’s plans at the same time. The goal of the left is to define all things to fit their agenda.
At the risk of quoting myself before the election here:
Yet there is one other thing that I noticed, politically. Democrats have this habit of overreaching. Of course that is only a byproduct of their politics. They are constantly trying to push the outer limits on everything — whatever it is — as far as they can go. So the natural extension of that is to overreach.
The Hillary campaign and Leftist media also underestimated evangelicals. By 81% they came out for Trump. But that is the way the Left is: the half of America that supported Trump is irrelevant, just like fly over country they despise. We were never a factor because they don’t care – still don’t.
Their campaign to define everything on the right, including us, continues. So the fight goes on. To allow them to do that is to cede the results. When they define our objective, we lose.

Donald Trump has become the metaphorical candidate, at least for the right. I would say ultimate, but that’s another story.
I was thinking of the debate and what would happen. I pictured Trump standing up there center stage, like he always does. looking back and forth nodding or gesturing. Actually, like a big metaphor. Face it, most of the attention has been on him like it or not.
So what I mean is he has become a symbol or a metaphor of a candidate. He has given voice to opinions and concerns of people. He has taken on the persona of an outsider, non-politician, not the faux outsiders who ran before. Obama tried to run as an outsider pretender. Even as an incumbent in his reelection, the campaign strategized it as an insurgency campaign — a huge stretch. But this is about Trump and the right.
Trump is a branding genius too. Where others play politics, his expertise is in branding and he knows how to make that work to his favor. So he’s given voice and a shelf life to these positions that politicos don’t want to hear. Concerns people have about the country.
But taking on those positions is one thing, he hasn’t really backed off or changed his mind in the face of critics. Whether right or wrong, he stays with it.
He also hasn’t taken just the easy popular opinion but the difficult non-politically correct ones. And he has appeared to be a flame thrower. He has media and pundits alike at a loss to how to deal with him. Yet at the same time he does plenty of interviews and answers questions, something even career politicians shy off on at times. (like when they go into lock down mode) We haven’t seen Donald in the lock down mode yet. Even Obama and Hillary have had those in their campaigns.
Now you see what I mean, he has become a metaphor even more than an actual candidate. He is a symbol for conservatives and a fly in the ointment all at the same time. He is not dependent on or looking for money because he is self-funding. That irritates insiders and outsiders alike. It’s the worst thing that could happen from the estabos’ point of view and the best for many conservatives because he gives voice to off-the-table issues. One you cannot ignore. We were always told if you do not like something, wait till the election and we’ll have that conversation. This is the metaphor election for all those “next election” lectures. Trump became a metaphor for what is wrong with our country and system.
Yet all he has to do is stand there, and by doing so he represents all those concerns and issues along with being a representation of many popular sentiments in the nation. Like him or hate him. And Obama is a backdrop reminder of what’s wrong. Trump is a giant symbol, whether you agree with his positions or not. He claimed the turf.
So what has the media done? They have made him the poster child for these so-called radical positions. And then they parlayed that over the entire conservative, right-wing Republican Party.(Bernie Sanders eat your heart out) But that has not hurt Trump, in fact he embraces it. As do his supporters. (as if you can ‘out-brand’ a brand master)
Of course that infuriates the GOP establishment, because they don’t want to be tainted(branded) with all his statements and positions. Tsk, tsk, but that is the establishment Donald s running against and at odds with, the establishment people are so infuriated with. Media sort of does his work for him. You know the drill: one Republican says some inflammatory thing and media goes person by person to ask if you condemn these remarks? If not, then one is condemned for the same statement. It’s the outrage game. He’s branded Republicans against the will of the elites and establishment.
Trump is a metaphor for what is wrong, a metaphor for what people want, a metaphor for how people feel, a metaphor for the voiceless public. He’s a metaphor for our anger about it all. He’s a metaphor for the furor about fixing it. He also branded the establishment.
“I think that if he wants to be considered as a real candidate, he has to start to temper some of that rhetoric because… while the truthfulness , the candor and the directness of his speeches was appealing for a period of time… in order to be considered, to me — and I’m crazy about Donald – presidential timbre, there has to be a measure in the way you present your argument. They were hungry for plainspeak and Donald is plainspeaking. “
So, give up and tone down on everything that has worked for him, so far.

Now we see the clear picture of the media hypocrisy. We had the Democrat debates where Sanders announced he was “sick and tired” of hearing about Hillary’s damn emails and the press in the press room cheered. They were giddy over the declaration to end any questions over Hillary’s servergate scandal.
Then we have their nonsensical, insulting, off topic gotcha questions to Republicans — at least one outright fabricated, okay call that a lie. Then the press complains when they are called on it. Well, now that they have an official truce on Hillary’s emails and Benghazi, calling her a winner, that gives them them lots more time to focus on Republicans. (even if they have to make it up)
CNBC counters the negative criticism and defends their debate saying: “People who want to be president of the United States should be able to answer tough questions.” Yet press applauded the Sanders’ declaration to end the email subject. The mainstream media has no credibility. One week they are rabid attack dogs for tough but irrelevant questions, and the next gushing over front runner Democrats saying how well she did after handing her softballs. That we see how fast they can do a 180 is amazing.
This post is about the about. Allow me to explain. We always talk about what the left or globalists are doing and reacting to it. Sometimes we get so busy with documenting what is going on, or the media does, that we don’t spend enough time on getting the bigger picture. By we, I mean the public at large. Those here know better.
A good explanation of this whole subject is a great article Pepp posted on her blog. It diagnoses the cause and effect of basically the treason going on. I recommend it. This is only one aspect of it. We’ve all been aggravated and frustrated with what is going on. We see stories or examples in schools, media and public but it deserves a closer look.
It all reminded me of something a teacher used to say that stuck with me: “it’s not enough to know what or how to do something, but you have to know why.” That coincides with the article explaining the media connection. It is tough to explain, but stay with me.
I believe, as that article suggested, people are just being fed the scripted play by play news. They report just enough of something to cover the surface. And we’ll know what they want us to. Yet we’re always lectured about context. The context of what is happening is important. A person can be informed but what does it really mean? So it is possible to see the play by play news without understanding the context of the whole picture. Media can only be blamed for part of it. The rest is on the people.
So to put it together as to what is happening in real time with what it means is incredibly important. “You have to know the why too” – or why it matters. It is possible to do things without knowing why in which case it turns you into just a machine. No one wants to be a robot. Even monotonous things have some significance in the greater picture. It’s the same way with current events. You can, as Tom Snyder said, watch the pictures and words fly through the air, but we must grasp the contextual meaning. I see that missing more and more with some people. It’s enough for them only to know what happened.
Seeing the Democrats’ whole platform turn to socialism disturbs us because we know what it means. Those that don’t, or don’t care, are the same mindset of Dems who just go along with it. We are in a pretty bad, dark place when people don’t see why socialism is such a bad thing? History won’t be kind to those who don’t bother to understand.
It’s hard enough even for conservatives on the right to avoid this syndrome by making a constant conscious effort to understand the why seeing the big picture. That is the central problem and theme. So even when we know what is going on, one may not understand the significance, or care to. One can see what happens but not know the agenda.
Democrats have played this “we know” game. They play dumb with the facts. They know enough. They’ve gone to the point of developing a faux reality. Then there is what they want to see or believe. It is convenient for them to accept what they want and discard the rest. Anything inconvenient to their faux reality is wrong. Thus. Democrats’ exuberance for socialism at the debate, or raising the debt limit — never mind what it means.
People bought into ObamaCare and all the hype. After the fact, Johnathon Gruber came out to boast how Obamacare passed only thanks to “the stupidity of the American voter” and the lies they were told. Even then Dems didn’t want to believe it. So they carried all the talking points and became useful idiots. They attacked Gruber. Even when known it’s a lie they act as if it was not. Not just a lie, but everything was constructed on one big lie.
There’s an alternative reality aspect just as there is with Obama. From Benghazi to the green agenda, to Obama’s daily narrative. They buy into it as willing dupes. Even when framed in the most naive way, one should not be able to deny the truth. Not so with Democrats. They can block out anything inconvenient or countering Obama’s narrative. Hillary comes out, ironically, to say “what difference at this point does it make?” That is how it works with the Left. What difference do the facts make? What difference does the truth make? What difference does reality make? What difference does the bigger-what it means-picture make? None. Whether it is they can’t see it or just don’t want to.
So we saw it in virtually every scandal. Fast and Furious, a manufactured scandal. It didn’t matter. In IRS, maliciously targeting people didn’t matter. Solyndra, nothing. Obama playing politics with issues and scandals, nada. Then when Obama came along saying not a smidgen of corruption in the IRS, they repeated it. They knew this much: if they encounter a problem with that statement, Obama and Dems would issue a new one to explain it. That much they depend on. The left only has to repeat the talking points. Obama’s election, reelection, now Hillary and her record of scandals — it doesn’t matter. They become useful idiots.
When Obama calls on Israel to stop the excessive use of force, and State makes an equivalence with Israel and Palestinians committing terrorism, facts and truth don’t matter. Does he not know Israel is under attack? Sure, how can anyone avoid knowing? But he denies it and implies an equivalency. Democrats fall in line and do the same. The Crusades were resurrected as an equivalency to barbaric ISIS terrorists in an Islamic caliphate. Yet Obama cannot admit their religious, Islamic basis for a caliphate.
The left claims to believe in the process until it goes against their faux reality. Then, the process like the Benghazi committee is corrupt What difference at this point does it make? Hillary could have been talking about her Democrat base. So they call it a political stunt. But the Benghazi scandal was caused by Obama playing politics. Now the excuse and defense is it is a political witch hunt.
The same thing applied to the Green Agenda when one by one the truth came out. Leftists went into denial pretending it wasn’t so. The same mentality applied to the IRS scandal. The about part, the bigger picture and meaning is ignored. They don’t know or don’t care, either one amounts to the same thing. First, the Left claims facts show there is no there there. Then, when shown, they simply deny it. It’s not just a case of drinking the Kool Aid, they deny the truth when faced with it. They are useful idiots that follow Obama’s lead and Democrat spinsters who never met a scandal they couldn’t spin their way out of. Whether is was Jonestown or under Obama, it has the same effect.

First we had Brian Williams in liar-gate and now the steaming fresh George Stephanopoulos ‘donation derriere-gate’. But what is the message, other than media is not the responsible organ of public trust it ought to be? Media seems to be in a meltdown.
It makes an overall statement of lamestream’s credibility — right, it has none. More importantly to the point, what is the error it committed? They knew the track record and who these guys were when they negotiated and signed these mega contracts.
Breitbart: (Stephanopoulosis worse than Williams)
“Clinton Cash” author Peter Schweizer argued George Stephanopoulos’ behavior is worse than Brian Williams’ on Monday’s “Hannity” on the Fox News Channel.
Earlier, Schweizer said … “He certainly knew that he had donated to the Clinton Foundation and he also knew that — as I lay out in the article, he had participated in all these events. I mean, we’re not just talking about George Stephanopolous’ time — his money. We’re also talking about his time.
Does the MSM think a huge contract is going to change who they are? Does creating a nice job around them change anything?
Let’s take it a step further. The Clintons are perfect examples. Do we think the money or prestige of a large charitable foundation, in their name, is going to change who they are? Put some more lipstick on that pig. Was making her Secretary of State? Is running for president? Of course MSM knows who these people are and so do we. They are who they’ve always been.
So what is the shock and consternation from the media corporates? They knew what they were getting. Most of us saw the red flags when Stephanopoulos first surfaced as a media mogul. Sure they can install George at the head of a division or anything else, but guess what? He is still George Stephanopoulos — not wonder boy, Mediatron. Progressives love to reinvent themselves, they do it all the time, but it doesn’t change who they are.
Now we’ll have the debate, controversy about Brian Williams coming back. That gave me an idea. Why not put him back on journalism and embed him in Hillary Clinton’s campaign on the road? Between the two of them they would be able to create some of the best alternative reality we’ve ever heard. And that might be just the thing to kick start Hillary’s campaign. It would make for the most fascinating air-brushed coverage to draw the viewers, too. It’s the best of both worlds, media and politics, which in their case are pretty much the same thing. But they would know what they are getting.
The infamous mouthpiece of MSNBC has taken his roadshow to the courtroom. I don’t know all the details, but this article explains some of them.
Ed Schultz does courtroom drama about as well as he does his TV show. (Daily Caller)
A strange thing came out, the big mouth apparently wanted (or was ready for) to get a show on Fox. This gave me a vision of him sitting in a room making a deal with Roger Ailes That gave me my laugh for the day. See article for his run around on his partnership.
I’d love to know what that dialogue would have been. A little satire:
After reading the article, it seems his courtroom cabal is not a settled science, and debate is not over. And all his schmoozing with unions doesn’t seem to help when he’s trying to cut an associate out of his picture.
There just has to be as much political posturing going on with MSM as Obama’s team did in Obamacare. First blood has now been drawn.
Hot Air has this nice, informative piece.
November 14, 2014 by Noah Rothman
The hits just keep on rolling in. After the previously unknown investment advisor Rich Weinstein established that there was a literal trove of videos featuring Obamacare architect Jonathan Gruber speaking candidly and in strikingly impolitic ways about the health care reform law and the American public he helped deceive, the mainstream press is now getting in on the act.
The sixth installment in the series of videos featuring Gruber crucifying himself was uncovered by CNN’s Jake Tapper:
The issue at hand in this sixth video is known as the “Cadillac tax,” which was represented as a tax on employers’ expensive health insurance plans. While employers do not currently have to pay taxes on health insurance plans they provide employees, starting in 2018, companies that provide health insurance that costs more than $10,200 for an individual or $27,500 for a family will have to pay a 40 percent tax.
Where do you go from there? MSM was definitely and defiantly not covering the story. Now CNN’s Trapper jumps on board. So there is a story there, what do you know. They probably just needed time to source it and all.
When all this kicks in, what a time it will be. Why did they pick the arbitrary date of 2018?
“But by starting it late, we were able to tie the cap for Cadillac Tax to CPI, not medical inflation,” Gruber said.
“This was the only political way we were ever going to take on what is one of the worst public policies in America, and every economist should celebrate this,” Gruber insisted.
“It’s on the books now,” Gruber added
Obama did the equivalent of planting a time bomb set to go off in stages. We just haven’t seen or felt the entire effects yet. I think GM ought to jump on a law suit for the name Cadillac tax, especially since they were using it to promote the program.
A little comparison demonstrates how wrong the media’s perception has been.
They pegged Reagan a failure and they projected Obama a great success.
Obama invoked Reagan many times, but has yet to compare himself to Carter.
Here’s a multiple choice….

That is, not on Benghazi story itself.
It seems there are a few notions floating out there in the media, distilling like swamp water. One is that Americans aren’t really tuned in or that aware of Benghazigate. Really? A few on Fox are peddling that one. In other words, what’s it take for American to pay attention to this and will they? I.e. “what can we do to make them pay attention?”
Someone missed the boat on that one, people are aware of it and more so aware of the big sack of lies that it is. And they know that four people were killed and an ambassador was assassinated…and that it wasn’t over a video. But I digress on that point. They know and care. (and people who don’t, there are always going to be some of those…there was with Watergate)
The other is selling this hearing process, complete with whistleblowers, as the be all end all. Lindsey Graham is a big salesman for that telling us the dam is about to break.’Stay tuned.’ Sorry Senator, heard that enough before. How many times have we heard that? I’m from Missouri now.
Yet another is just how big or important the story is, as if it has to rate on the Richter scale to qualify the story. Sorry, some of the best and biggest stories are ones Dems tend to or try to ignore as a flea bite. One thing I know is you cannot judge a story by how much the libs or mainstream media cares about them.
Remember the little nothings about the Tea Parties. There are a few, even in conservative media, who depend on Liberals’ rating system. Remember, from the folks who thought Mitt Romney’s doggy ride on the car was the bomb? Or the people who swooped in on Romney’s words about the 47%, and they now salute the guy who uncovered that “story” as a “national hero”? They still credit him with Romney’s loss.
So following the MSM and progressives jig does not do anyone justice. If anything it might be an indicator of how much the Left ignores or dismisses a story as to how important it is.
That said, following the Republicans lead on stories has not proved a huge value indicator either. They have promised a lot in the last years that they failed to deliver on, start with ObamaCare and think fast and furious. But it was not for lack of opportunities, they just could not prosecute and close the deal to an already jaded public. (some of us wonder if that was by intention or not)
Now many Repubs assure us that Benghazigate is a Watergate level story. Well, bust my bridges and tell me something I don’t know. But treat it like one, don’t just bloviate about how big it is. And see it through, unlike the other opportunities you’ve had to make the case on this Liar in Chief residing in 1600 Pa Ave. Or, as Nike says, Just do it. But it doesn’t take a political genius to know its a huge deal. People died, then they lied.
So Lindsey, when someone says the damn is about to break, show me the water. Don’t just cry me a river. Too many times Americans have expected action only to be disappointed. If all this chameleon liar has done does not confirm our worst suspicions, then shame on us. But instead of retreating at the intersection of spin central, press onward. Probe with bayonets not lollipops.
That’s okay… they aren’t fond of him either
So Chuck Todd reveals Obama hates the Internet news, particularly WND. Gee, I wonder why?
NBC News Political Director Chuck Todd says President Obama was making it “clear” at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner over the weekend how he feels about the rise of Internet news sites like Politico, Buzzfeed and … well, WND.
“He hates it.”
In fact, Obama took several opportunities during the speech to mock Internet news sites for exploring stories the mainstream media largely joined the president in laughing off – including hard questions about his faith, economic philosophy and agenda.
“Look I get it,” Obama joked. “These days I look in the mirror, and I have to admit I’m not the strapping, young, Muslim socialist that I used to be.”
So he’s an older one now. Looks like Obama needs a pity party.
Chuck Todd is now the self-appointed spokesman for Obama. Well, Jay Carney has his hands full, so it’s so nice Chuck can help out
a little…a lot. How about that, Obama hates something besides America.
Nothing like having a media guy go out in the media to drive home the point, in case the people had missed it.
But then when you have lamestream media carrying your propaganda and the lies about your political opponents, who needs the Internet news?
This isn’t a list of the events this week, you can get that elswhere.
I saw some media coverage at the end of the week saying how media did not cover other important stories, as they were continuously covering the Boston bombing. (was that an apology?…nah) Let their navel gazing begin.
Now I’m not complaining about the coverage given Boston. That was deserved. But they hardly gave even a mention of other news, specifically the explosion in Texas. Actually the death count was higher in Texas than Boston but that is beside the point.
The real point is that they virtually locked out everything else. At a time when the Dep of Defense is expected to handle two wars simultaneously, MSM cannot get past a single story. Then they did something sort of even more hypocritical, they complained at the end of the week that media didn’t cover or mention these other stories, which weren’t small potatoes. Then they mention them. I’m not going to list them.
They were obsessed by the one Boston story and nothing moved them off of it. Half the time there was nothing more to do than speculate, and they did, but they still stuck to it.
The shocker to me was that they complained that these other stories got ignored or cheated. I guess when Obama is their idol, we should expect that sort of thing. He does that self-contradicting, blatant hypocrisy constantly. Who were they complaining to, viewers? That was not clear. Was it a slip of conscience that they mentioned it? I don’t know.
If in a 24-hour news cycle, with this many competing networks, they cannot handle more than one story… well, the press is toast. Stick a fork in it. Of course, we already knew the press was dead or at least on life support since Obama. But I’m willing to bet they aren’t finished making excuses for it though. They usually say they just cover what the people care about, and they are serving the needs of the people. They were serving the needs of the people when they campaigned for Obama too.
It takes me back to an experience with media years ago. A reporter told me “on a given night, we have 6 million people watching and we get to decide what they are going to see.” Oh, how true and boldly arrogant.
Speaking of the bombastic hypocrisy of Obama, he mentioned the Texas explosion in his Boston Bombing victory speech, which he had dismissed up to then.
He did issue a statement to Texas on the 18th:
“Today our prayers go out to the people of West, Texas in the aftermath of last night’s deadly explosion at a fertilizer plant. A tight-knit community has been shaken, and good, hard-working people have lost their lives. I want to thank the first responders who worked tirelessly through the night to contain the situation and treat the wounded.
My Administration, through FEMA and other agencies, is in close contact with our state and local partners on the ground to make sure there are no unmet needs as search and rescue and response operations continue. West is a town that many Texans hold near and dear to their hearts, and as residents continue to respond to this tragedy, they will have the support of the American people.”
Then in his speech at the conclusion of the Boston bombing, as if by afterthought, he added the following spoken words:
… Finally, let me say that even as so much attention has been focused on the tragic events in Boston, understandably, we’ve also seen a tight-knit community in Texas devastated by a terrible explosion. And I want them to know that they are not forgotten. Our thoughts, our prayers are with the people of West, Texas, where so many good people lost their lives; some lost their homes; many are injured; many are still missing.
I’ve talked to Governor Perry and Mayor Muska and I’ve pledged that the people of West will have the resources that they need to recover and rebuild. And I want everybody in Texas to know that we will follow through with those commitments.
All in all, this has been a tough week. But we’ve seen the character of our country once more.
And that is just the way it was in the news. Or as Texas Rep Ted Poe always says:
“And that’s just the way it is.”
Joseph Farah – WND
There was a rather low-key confession made in the New York Times last week that deserves to be blared throughout this country so that every American understands what they are reading in the establishment’s ultra-controlled, government-managed “press” – and I use that last word loosely indeed.
The admission came in the form of a story by Jeremy Peters on the politics page of the Times July 16. I’ve been waiting for others to point it out, discuss it, debate it, express shock and exasperation over it. But I’ve waited for naught.
What this shocking story reveals is that even I – one of the kingpins of the new media and a refugee from the state-controlled spin machine – underestimated the utter and total corruption of the euphemistically called “mainstream press.”
It shows that most – not some – members of the print media establishment with access to the White House submit their copy to government officials for review, “correction” and approval before it reaches the American people!
Here are some key excerpts from the piece, if you think I’m exaggerating:
“The quotations come back redacted, stripped of colorful metaphors, colloquial language and anything even mildly provocative.”
“They are sent by e-mail from the Obama headquarters in Chicago to reporters who have interviewed campaign officials under one major condition: the press office has veto power over what statements can be quoted and attributed by name.”
“Most reporters, desperate to pick the brains of the president’s top strategists, grudgingly agree. After the interviews, they review their notes, check their tape recorders and send in the juiciest sound bites for review. The verdict from the campaign – an operation that prides itself on staying consistently on script – is often no, Barack Obama does not approve this message.”
“Now, with a millisecond Twitter news cycle and an unforgiving, gaffe-obsessed media culture, politicians and their advisers are routinely demanding that reporters allow them final editing power over any published quotations.”
That last part strikes me. All politicians do not have those editing privileges. Only one comes to mind. Trying to claim even many politicians are afforded these liberties would be false. Obama is.
They[NYT] went on to say the Obama administration has taken this process to a new high. Well of course; but any suggestion the process and treatment is the same for Romney’s campaign is ridiculous, just based on their own reporting.
What seems lost, as bad as all that admission is — and it probably caused a few sources to want to wash their mouth out with soap — this means what is said should have an official classification of “WH approved” speech. After all, it is. So whatever is said should be considered “approved”. That was obvious with the Iran computer virus. It was cleared, which inadvertantly means government sanctioned. But as this story indicates, the irony seems lost even on reporters.
