When Drama Meets Trauma

Look out; today I am going to tell you something that will shock your conscience. In fact, you might never look at the issue the same way again. This will change your thinking about it. I promise you, the things I will reveal will alter the national discussion about the issue. All carefully sourced, of course. (File that next to all the other bunk.)

Mark this date on your calendar. (as you would any other date)

How many times have you heard things like this? It’s called dramatic flare and I have about as much of it as anyone. It is sensationalism. News and media often use it. Scratch that, they are extreme addicts of it. That sets us up for some drama karma.

I sometimes wonder if they are sensationalizing that much, then what is the purpose? I mean whether the story is sensational or not is the real point. Not whether one can breathe some sensational effect into it. (that is not the story) So I am caught in a quandary over all the need to sensationalize. Isn’t there enough of it out there already?

Like when Sean Hannity comes on every weeknight telling us “my sources are telling me the stuff that is coming will shock the conscience of the nation.” He says it at least every other night. “If reports are true, and I believe they are.”

Then after that, nothing. There is no proverbial explosion of “news” too hot to handle. No stunning revelations that will mark this place in time to be remembered forever. Nope, it’s dullsville afterward. Of course the leading question is ‘what does he know, what is this big news?’ It starts a web of questions: “Are we really going to find out everything that happened this time?” “Are people finally going to jail over this corruption.”… “Is this when accountability finally starts, for real this time?’

Then he or any of the other news pushers tell you to “stay tuned.” In other words, just continue to sit on the edge of your seats wringing your hands, waiting. Even as they are speaking, stay glued to your seat and do not change the channel. “We’ll tell you when we come back…” Uh huh, day after day.

I once compared this idiom of news coverage as the equivalent of marching people up to the rooftop and telling them “now just wait, we’ll come back for you. We are going to give you the news you’ve been hoping for. Just hang on and….wait!” How far off is that?

And when they don’t return, the story doesn’t come, or the news they hope for doesn’t arrive, then what? Well “just continue to wait.” It only works so long.

Notice what happened to Rachael Maddow, her ratings went into the toilet. It was after 2 and half years of fomenting promises that this will happen and that will happen. It didn’t… and now she isn’t — the top news prognosticator even of the left.

How many times have we heard all these things? Benghazi ring a bell? It proves the rule not the exemption. Do they think we’ve all been hypnotized? (cue soundtrack)

Face it we are in perpetual wait mode for all of it. When media does not deliver, it does not bode well. That’s all I’m saying. The last thing you want to think is that a person is only doing it for their own self-promotion. But these days it’s the first thing you must think about. That happens all the time.

Though the people just want honest information. They want the story and nothing but the story. And we get anything but the story. We get hype or “irrational exuberance.”

A word about my anonymity.

Some people may wonder why the anonymity? I can tell you what it is not. I am not a top Hollywood celeb hiding behind anonymity to protect my conservative views because I will be blacklisted if it were known. I am not an embedded insider informant, veiled in a cloak of anonymity. I am not a person who’s life would be wrecked if my identity were exposed.

No to all of that, however, I do protect my identity on the Internet from trolls or people who attack the messenger rather than the message. People who only want to use your identity as a weapon against you.

We’ve now seen what the left is really capable of. They’ll stop and nothing when it comes to politics. Why do some people refuse to engage in politics? It’s not hard to understand. The nature of the radical politics of weaponizing everything today is very profound and real. There are no limits for the Left. While on this side, we’re only a happy coalition of one.

Waiting causes other symptoms. They are all just chasing the news. They are not running down the story, they are chasing the news cycle. And Trump proved this better than anyone ever did. Sometimes I think he wants to send them on a wild journey. They will literally spend hours discussing what he says. Heck, Democrats want to impeach him for his words. They’d like to impeach him for his thoughts, too, but that is even more difficult. They’re working on it.

So what is it we all do while we just wait? Tap our fingers? We have lives, we do our thing. The fact that a bombshell hasn’t dropped is good cause or reason to think one is not in the offing anytime soon. Until then, we wait like trained seals in a circus. (sorry, they don’t have circuses anymore. We are the circus.) If we follow their breadcrumbs that is.

Like many people, sure, I’m tired of the waiting. “It’s coming.” I’ll tell you what I am not expecting and what is likely not coming — even if I am hoping. I don’t expect justice to take them all down like dominos in a couple of months. I’d say the odds on that are greater than hitting the lottery. As some say, “it just is not going to happen… or any time soon.”

A personal note:

Sometimes if I am writing a special piece, not always, I might be listening to music or a song. I’m not claiming it has any direct influence on content but it helps inspire me. For instance in writing this I was listening to “It keeps you running” by Michael McDonald and the Doobie Brothers. Oh that voice. Now you decide if it had any effect, or not?

But that isn’t the purpose of the music. It is just a tool like an aid. It doesn’t contribute directly to content. But it can help you get there, to that space.

See media uses the dramatic and sensational as a tool. it is supposed to get you there. But it’s not the subject. When it becomes the entire self-propelled point, then it’s the problem not a vehicle.

(For future reference: don’t worry, I will let you know when I’m listening to Tchaikovsky – 1812 Overture with cannons. But I think you’ll know anyway.)

And when the media’s Drama Karma kicks in, I think we’ll know it.

Rather-be-biased takes jabs at Trump and Fox (tin foil hat zone)

Then referring to the Fox Trump dust-up, Dan Rather told the same network he could not be sure that Trump and Fox did not preplan their dispute.(conspiracy zone) Rather went on to compare Trump to George Wallace, Barry Goldwater, Perot, denying he was directly comparing them of course. (Maddow had already done a Nixon-media comparison to Trump vs. Jorge Ramos)

Too bad it went against their narrative that the Fox is in collusion with Trump and that Fox decides, or runs, elections on the right. But immediately coming to mind is Obama’s sycophant media advocates who thought it was their job to get Obama elected.

Dan Rather ‘Suspicious’ Trump and Fox Are Faking Feud

By Mark Finkelstein | August 26, 2015 | MRC Newsbusters

When it comes to fake news stories, if anyone’s an expert it’s Dan Rather . . . The disgraced former CBS News anchor has a new twist on the vast right-wing conspiracy. Instead of plotting against poor innocents like Bill and Hillary, those conspiratorial conservatives are now creating phony feuds among themselves!

On Rachel Maddow’s show tonight, Rather declared himself “suspicious” about the battle between Donald Trump and Fox News, suggesting that Trump and Roger Ailes might have “gotten together and planned out” the feud for their mutual benefit.

For good measure, Rather went on to analogize Trump to segregationist presidential candidates George Wallace and Strom Thurmond.

Note: while floating his conspiracy theory, Rather admitted that he was “without very much evidence.” But when has that ever deterred Dan from attacking a Republican?

**See video interview

RACHEL MADDOW: Could Donald Trump, or could any of these candidates win the Republican nomination while also being at war with the Fox News channel specifically? Never really had anything like the Fox News channel in a previous era in history. It seems to me, that I believe that there can’t be a nominee without Fox’s support.

DAN RATHER: I tend to agree with that. However, Trump is raising that question anew. Now, having said that, and keeping in mind that reporters such as myself get paid not to be cynical, never cynical, but to be skeptical.

I’m a little suspicious, without very much evidence, but I’m a little suspicious of this battle between Trump and Fox. What we do know is that Trump is really smart. As I said when he started this run, don’t underestimate him. And Roger Ailes, whether you agree with his politics or not, another smart guy. Whether they’ve gotten together and planned this out or not, it works to their mutual benefit right now. Fox can argue, listen, we don’t give sweetheart deals to every Republican candidate and Trump can say: I tell you I’m independent and when I say I’m independent I’m really independent. Cause look at even Fox.

Dan Rather is “a little suspicious.” Well, Dan, we’re more than a little suspicious of you. Keep that tin foil hat shined up,  I’ve a feeling you are going to need it.  Trust me on that,  just a feeling.

I’m learning a lot: Trump is now conspiring with Hillary Clinton, and he’s plotting with Roger Ailes at the same time. Oh, Donald is busy.  And according to some, many of  the pointy hat left, he’s conspiring with the RNC — has been since the Dark Ages.  Rachael said he was created by Fox — who is just a mediabot for RNC.  (that’s a double one) And he cannot get elected without Fox’s approval, per Maddow.(con-spir-acy)  So there we are.

So if Fox is not “rubber stamping” Donald, get ready for Trump’s crash and burn– unbeknownst to him, wait… he must know —  because, presumably if Fox made Trump, they can take him out. But so everyone throws a hissy fit if conservatives simply say, Fox tried to take Donald down. We’re nuts for suspecting that. But the rest of that Wallace, Goldwater, Perot, down the twisty road to the Fox conspiracy stuff….. woo-hoo-hoo!

They haven’t mentioned where Jeb Bush is in all this but it has to be coming. (Rather is drawing the schematic) The network who ran/runs interference for Obama. Is there a complete meltdown coming?
